We'va had this discussion before, but I thought I would share this.I'll just say that I love both, having a cat and a dog,but I've always had a prefference toward cats. Not sure what that says about me in light of this, though, lol.
As seen in a dog's diary:

7am - Oh boy! A walk! My favorite!

8am - Oh boy! Dog food! My favorite!

9am - Oh boy! The kids! My favorite!

Noon - Oh boy! The yard! My favorite!

2pm - Oh boy! A car ride! My favorite!

3pm - Oh boy! The kids! My favorite!

4pm - Oh boy! Playing ball! My favorite!

6pm - Oh boy! Mom! My favorite!

7pm - Oh boy! Dad! My favorite!

8pm - Oh boy! Dog food! My favorite!

11pm - Oh boy! Sleeping in a people bed! My favorite!

As seen in a cat's diary:

Day 1283 of my captivity...

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre, little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal.

The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild
satisfaction I get from clawing the furniture.

Tomorrow? I may eat another house plant.

Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while
they were walking, almost succeeded - must try this at the top of the
stairs.

In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again
induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair - must try this on their
bed.

Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in an attempt to
make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear in
their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little
cat I was.

Hmmm? Not working according to plan.

There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in
solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell
the food More importantly, I overheard that my confinement was due to my
powers of inducing "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use
it to my advantage.

I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The
dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return He is
obviously a half-wit. The bird, on the other hand, has got to be an
informant and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my
every move.
Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured.

But I can wait, it is only a matter of time...

That cat you described sounds like my daughters cats. They torment me constantly. They pull my hair, jump on my shoulder, have drag races in the bedroom when i`m trying to sleep. They stare at me while I`m in the kitchen hoping I`ll drop something on the floor...but on the plus side their antics are hilarious cause they make me laugh. Oh and did i mention the one cat thinks hes a dog. He loves to play fetch the ball.

I like Dogs myself, although i have owned cats...But i think people should ALL have a dog that barks when people approach your property, for two reasons,,,,One reason is that a dog that is trained to bark when someone is close to your house makes criminals that case out homes to rob, if they hear a barking dog, they write that off of their list...Next reason is because a dog can save a woman from being raped or hurt, because a rapist that knows a woman lives alone that hears a barking dog, he knows she knows someone is approaching!!!! One of the main reasons i always have a dog, because if that dog loves you, a dog will start barking if someone is around 40 feet from your house.....Earl

I really don't think it's right at all to say that cats hate people and hate being around us and being in our homes. My cats love me and my family and love living here. I have a cat that we put out but she loves us so much she won't leave our property. She lives on our front porch. Our cats are sweet, personable, funny, quirky..and for the most part love to be in our presence, even if that means just sitting on top of the refrigerator while we eat dinner. one of my cats even knows when we're sick and loves to sit on our bellies hoping to make us feel better.

To me, a reserved intelligent cat who knows when to be friendly and when to leave me alone is so much better than a stupid slobbery dog who is always in your face and has the potential to kill a visitor.

I have a very standoffish cat and a very loving cat.

Tomorrow? I may eat another house plant.

That's more like something my dog would do. lol

cats are better because you have to earn their respect. you have to work to be their friend. a dog will just throw that at you. obviously not all people can stand to have to earn a cat's respect and think a dog's blind loyalty is just so adorable.

I grew up with a menagerie.I've had dogs, cats, horses, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, rodents and a monkey.I love all animals and for the most part seem to get along well with them.I'm partial to cats and they seem to gravitate to me naturally.I find them calming.I appreciate their independence and I admire the way they torment their prey, especially annoying mice and rats who imo deserve such treatment.Cats are every bit as loyal as dogs and I find the fact that they can be loyal and independent at the same time refreshing.

Dogs are great for exercise pets.My chocolate lab mix puppy is awesome to throw a half inflated ball around the yard and play tug of war. He's also very protective of my 11 year old daughter. My wife is more of a dog person so she does all the training and such.I don't have the patience for that.

People who hate cats have serious mental problems!

Cats are what God intended people to be!

I've always enjoyed both but dogs top it over cats for me.
Cats are mainly just great hunters to me and a critter that demands attention, wont obey any direct order unless your calling for them.Dogs on the other hand put meaning to the word loyal.
