well I hate shopping...but the only slight pleasure I get is forgetting what it is I want to buy and ending up buying in my panic to get out of the shop some really weird and revolting stuff....Its how I found, Crosse & Blackwells ready made Macaroni and Cheese..its one of my most vile and revolting memories...I recommend it to anyone to try

I loath shopping too. A long time ago, I gave up on written shopping lists. There were always items, that I would forget to put on the list. Nowadays, I just stick to a mental shopping list.

I make a shopping list cross referenced with all the sales papers and where I can get the best use of a few coupons. I hate shopping, so a list helps me get in and get out pretty quick. I do NOT browse. Walmart Supercenter changed the layout of their store a few months ago. I went in to pick up a few non grocery items and took time to make a quick run through the grocery aisles and make mental notes of where things are now. I HATE it when they change stuff around. Marketing sucks!!!!! lol

Hi Thanglhrly - good 'seeing' you again!
Thanks Sweet, looks like an interesting site. I set up my own Excel spreadsheet so I could put in the aisle number and sort on it. I always liked being able to add things during the week as I thought of them, then sort and voila! Everything's in the right order for my store!
And Harleys - my favorite grocery just added a coffee shop area, so the store's entirely jumbled.....I really NEED my list ordered by aisle now .... But if I ever do retire, it's even better than the hardware store for meeting retired guys. I see them hanging out having coffee, chatting and watching TV there...IF I ever retire...

I just write down those things that I cannot forget to pick up, and write them down when I think of them, too, so I don't forget (love menopause...not!) and then wing the rest since it's pretty routine from week-to-week.

I can't stand shopping. It's a WONDERFUL thing to have daughters old enough to do it for me

I sort of make a list. I write down what we run out of on the list attached to the fridge, but that's about it. I still end up just browsing the aisles.

There is of course an easy way around all this... shop online and go down the list and tick the box of what you want and get it delivered while you sit with your feet up ....Shopping Lists made easy

I either go in and get exactly what I want.......Or if it's been awhile....I go up and down every aisle and get I what I think I might need the next week....and I always try to go eat first. If I dont I wind up buying way more than I need.

If I am shopping with my son I always have a list so I stay focused. I spend so much time keeping him out of stuff. But I always seem to forget something when I am in there and add to the list getting twice as much as planned.

I really hate shopping.. but I took my mom shopping yestrday .. we spent almost 3 hours in WalMart.. Mom was just in the mood for some "girl time".. We tried on just about every hat in the ladies dept, she picked up every pot in housewares, (now I know what to get her for Christmas). Got my sisters gift and a doggy bed for my little monster.. crap... just remembered that I didn't get my dads present.. (shoulda had a list)..lol Now, I gotta go back..

I'm not intimidated by much in life, I've learned to conquer most all my fears...but food shopping isn't one of them. List or not, once I pass through the portals of my local Giganta Mega Food Bin, I become disoriented, anxious and claustrophobic. We have a commercial that runs out here, I think it's Carls Jr (a fast food joint here in California), where a guy is wandering the aisles of a supermarket, dazed and confused. The commercial states, if it wasn't for us, guys would go hungry. It's way true in my case.
