Well, I figure if I don't decide what I wanna be, I'll never have to grow up. My cats have last names too (Charlie Chaplin's currently purring away next to me).
I've been known to bring home total strangers who look like they need a meal.
My sense of humor can be punishing (I don't CARE if it's the lowest form of humor).
I think I posted in this thread awhile back... that I was spending a long weekend sharing a cabin with a dozen total strangers...gonna do it again in February (except this time I'll know half of them...funny how that works).
Oops, was just reading the thread about attractive people, and I guess I have to add that I'm also weird because I really enjoy eccentric people. Even when I'm not too sure what the heck they're talking about...

I'm never gonna grow up, and I hate to wear long sleeves...or turtlenecks! Yep me too. I wear T-shirts ALL year.

What makes me weird? I won't play the PC game. I always say what's on my mind, whether it's the "correct" thing to say or not.

Okay okay.. Just funnin' ya back there..
What makes me weird is I grew up putting peanuts in my coke..
And I STILL DO!!
There's another thing too. Dare I disclose THIS?? Ok. You know how lots of folks like peanut butter and jelly? Well not me. I like peanut butter and Apple Butter MUCH better.. Sometimes even with a slice of Cheese! It's an old family specialty.
Hey, if you haven't tried it, don't knock it! It is indeed Heaven on a slice of toast.

I'm another one that can't stand long sleeve or anything close around my neck. I have even been know to cut the neck out of tee shirts. Guess thats one good thing about moving to Fl.

The only problem with that MusicMonster is I can't find and Apple Butter that even comes close to what Gram used to make, and yes, just one more recipe she took to her grave. Along with taffy.

Luvs you sound like you definitely know how to cook, why not get a base recipe for some of that stuff and add and subtract until you can get it close or make something new that tastes just as terrific? Granted... I know it won't be the same, but, you could still end up with something wonderful

I have figured out her secrets to her Vegtable Soup, it is in high demand in the winter. My sister has figured out her Apple Cobbler. My mom figured out her pickled beets, but now shes gone too. I do have the recipe for them, just haven't tried doing any canning yet. I will someday try that and Black Rasberry Jelly, my mom's was the BEST.
Her taffy though, I have tried and tried, just can't seem to get it. No Julia its not salt water taffy, just sugar, vinagar and water. I have come close, just not quite there. I haven't tried it for a while, maybe I should give it another shot.
I sure have some great memories, my aunt had a huge house and everyone seemed to gather there all the time. If enough people showed up Gram would say, if someone will go to the store and get some sugar, I'll make some taffy. She'd cook it up, poor it on plates, then we'd burn our buttered fingers trying to pick it up to pull. It was always a contest to see who could get theirs the whitest. (Gram always won) The longer you pulled before it got too cool and hardened the whiter it was. Being a kid, mine always had a yellow tint to it. Sure tasted good though.

Luvs that sounds good :)! If I send you a bag of sugar? lol!
Yeah, my mom needs to start writing stuff down that she makes, and you know what's funny. I asked her the other day, hey, do you have a recipe for that? And she said YES! And then she said, she would have had more recipes, BUT, her mom and grandmother didn't write anything down!
Oh the irony!!!
Oh Enc.... You're soooo weird Julia??? I am not.. Am not am not am not! *stomps foot!* *stomp stomp!*
Oh crud... I think I'm trying to convince you more than me!! Ahhh denial... Not just another river in Egypt!

That happens a lot, thats one of the reasons I taught my great niece how to make my cheeseball on Christmas. I will also teach her how to make my baked beans before I move to FL. Those are the two dishes I dare not come to a family gathrering without!

Telling your niece was an excellent idea imho. You never know what's gonna happen, and you tend to remember people from things like that. It's almost as if sometimes when something like that is remembered, that small part of the person who had cooked it before, and the appreciation of what they cooked, lives on.
Luv did I promise you a cookie recipe?
And people fighting over baked beans? I could say that's weird!
(But I'm betting they're that good, so I don't doubt it! )

It's almost as if sometimes when something like that is remembered, that small part of the person who had cooked it before, and the appreciation of what they cooked, lives on. I think so too. I told her it was because I will be moving to FL and she will need to do it for everybody left up here.

She lived it West Virgina and we would go visit her every summer, she always asked what I wanted to eat when I was there and I'd tell her baked beans. I finally asked her to teach me how she made them. Yes, there is a secret ingredient...
