I don't think so! I work 25hrs at most.....ok...fine 24 a week.
I think Europe has a 37 hour work week - not sure.
Besides, it depends on the job and individual.
Did I mention I only work 23 hrs a week?

Well, right now I'm self-employed so that doeesn't count, but in the past when I was salaried in the UK I was in medical research logistics, adn I worked 40+ hours each week with no overtime. Of course, that was nearly 10 years ago now, so maybe things have changed since then.

40 hours and more. Vacation time? I am trying to think, I never seemed to have a job where I get paid time off for a vacation. Except for my last job in Michigan. I was working 12-15 hour days there. I was working on getting a vacation them I got married and moved.

40 hours a week is the minimum here to be considered a full-time employee. Most places still start out with two weeks vacation each year on top of a handful of holidays as time off.
Generally speaking, time and half is given for what are called "exempt" positions if the employee works more than 40 hours in a week. "Salaried, non-exempt" positions may be given bonuses or "comp time" in return for a great deal of extra hours. There's a whole bunch of other legalities regarding compensation as well.
That said, it is not uncommon for most corporate folks to work closer to 50 hour weeks without extra compensation, and managers' vacations are often interspersed (read: interrupted) by problems at the office.
But if you find a good company and can stick with them, it's not all so bad. After 22 years with my employer, I now have five weeks of vacation a year and between standard US holidays and the work holidays set by my customer, that adds almost another couple of weeks of downtime.
I ain't complainin'. No how, no way.

You think that's bad. I retired, after working for the same company for 27 years, and 6 months. 40 hour work weeks, and time and half OT. Double time and a half on holidays.
