Well I work at a hospital and work 40 hrs a week and am lucky if I get to work extra, we have to work 3 holidays a year and we have to earn hours to take time off and they just passed a new policy that if you dont have enough hours is your PTO(Paid Time Off) Bank then there is a chance that your time off will not get approved....it S*CKS.

I work 45 to 50 hours a week, sometimes a little more. I don't expect I'd be able to work much more than that.

Lucky, I know exactly what you mean! I worked full-time in LTC the last 5 years and it was run the same there. I had about 150 hours in the PTO bank when I had to quit to come here to FL and take care of my terminally ill sister last December. I also told them I expected to paid for those PTO hours that I had earned but never used. At first they balked, but then realized I wasn't messing around with them and would take it to the next step if I had to, so they included it in my final paycheck. My sister passed away in Jan. and I still can't bring myself to even apply for a FL (I live here now) nursing license because I am so burned out on the "stuff" we have to put up with in the medical field. After working as a nurse for almost 40 years I am enjoying the break.

Hmmmm, when you have a housekeeper that shows at 10am (supposed to be 9am), takes her first 15 minute break from 10:30am-11:15am, then lunch hour at noon, doesn't finish this "hour" til 2pm, then next 15 minute break at 3pm til 4pm, only comes back on the job to sneak food out of the kitchen, then leaves at 4:30pm (supposed to be 5pm)... and doesn't even show up if it is raining at all, just like 90% of the population...
Sure, they call it a 40 hour week. This fool even expected to get paid for 40 hours LOL even though it was specified that only 2-15minute breaks and one half hour for lunch were covered. Boy was she surprised when I showed her the video, complete with time stamps, and the appropriate amount on the check, and the list of instructions on how to properly clean a house, so I didn't have to keep redoing it when she left.
That was in Barbados.
