During the first part of a trip, a canoeist travels 50 miles at a certain speed. The canoeist travels 24 miles on the second part of the trip at a speed 5 miles slower. The total time for the trip is 5 hours. What was the speed on each part of the trip?

Total miles Traveled = 74 miles
24miles/11.83mph = 2.029 hrs
50miles/16.83mph = 2.970 hrs
2.029hrs + 1.544hrs = 5.0 hrs
5mph less of 16.83 = 11.83

To much thinking involved for me, I'd be going slow in that canoe since I'd be afraid if I went to fast that I'd tip over and then the fish would try to bite me!
