The iPod can play MP3's, and it comes with extra perks - the new ones can view videos and store color pictures, depending on the model you get. The iPod is a type of MP3 player, and does not include features that other MP3 players have such as: FM radio, FM recording, Voice recording, FLAC playback, Line-in recording, Expandable memory...etc; (my fellas son just got one so I`ve heard all about them)

I've been given two MP3 players as free gifts, but I still use my old compact CD player!

Some MP3 players do have FM radio and able to record FM radio, the other stuff I think is only on IPOD's. I have a MP3 player and it serves my purpose. And also IPOD's cost a heck of a lot more then MP3 players. You can get a good 1Meg MP3 player for around $40 (may be less) if you shop the internet for them.
