Why??

Why is this such a volatile time on the Forums? Why are people who can kid around and joke becoming too sensitive or being bombarded with crap? I have been out of the loop for awhile, and I just don't understand.

Do you have enough to eat? Are you warm? Can you feed your pets and take care of their medical needs? Do you have phone, electricity and water? Do you have a roof over your head that is not subject to being lost in the next few days??? OK, then....if so, perhaps a bit of gratitude is in order. Do you have friends that care about you? If you're on here, then Yes, you do.

Good point. I think the holidays have everyone's emotions running high. I think everything will calm down after they are all over.

Ash? Zicam for the cold, get a blanket to keep your warm while you sit at the computer, go rest if you're sick, and stop sitting at the computer with the blanket on, drink lots of fluids, and I see you've got 11 people listed as friends, I'm sure more than a few of them would write you and give you 's

If you're asking rhetorically what do you do if those things Door mentioned to be grateful for you do not have, and cannot be grateful for because you don't have them (you being a 'generic' you and not you specificaly), then I suggest looking over at a thread Ron posted in the Break Up section of the boards.

Look forward towards solutions. Don't focus on the problems.

No friends? What are you doing to make them? Cold? There are many many ways that you can find warmth, and many groups and people out there willing to help you try and stay warm, and find food. Sick? That's a tuffy. Hard to get medical help sometimes if you don't have insurance or money, but if it's only a cold, rest as best as possible, and drink lots of fluid (granted, you may have to work while you're sick, you may have a job like that, I've been there on that one, and you do the best you can, and hope they'll have mercy on ya, though sometimes they won't).

Why are the forums so volatile? I agree, things might be more tense because of the holidays. Then you might be looking at more people coming to MD because they're just now finding it and it's growing, and you might have more trouble makers running about causing issues and flaming the posters.

Either way, being appreciative of what we have is a good idea. mho

I don't know Door, I know I was pretty nasty myself for a while, once the Mods hit me up the side of the head, I calmed right down. There are only a few on here that can get me that angry, thankfully they don't post often. Cuz, I don't have a life, not even a job, so I live on here.

Hey Door, question for you. I just looked for the ramdom thread, couldn't find it. Did it die? Get removed?

If the answer to "Why?" is the holidays, that is so sad. I think we all see people getting tense and frustrated and short-tempered around the holidays because of the pressure most feel from having to make sure they purchase the "right" gifts, from the frustration of not having enough time and from feeling alone or left out at gatherings.

The holidays should be a time of comfort. Knowing that one has friends and that there is no better gift. Spending times with family (and if they're company is less than desired, being greatful there are only so many holidays in a year!!!!)

Do you have enough to eat? Are you warm? Can you feed your pets and take care of their medical needs? Do you have phone, electricity and water? Do you have a roof over your head that is not subject to being lost in the next few days???
You know, it's funny, but I've known some people that have had to answer, "No" to some or all of the above questions, and in thinking about them, they sometimes seem to be better equiped to handle their strifes than those that can answer, "Yes". Perhaps it's because they truly understand gratitude and simple fortunes???? I don't know.

Typically holiday time has a higher rate of, well I won't go there...but if they are suppose to be a time of comfort, I think back as a child and young adult-they were. So many changes, divorces and loss of loved ones that made the holidays very special can affect people in a bad way at times. I see very few that stay "angry" or upset all the time.

Yep-I've let a few rub me wrong but if they meant nothing by it I fix it with them soon. Everyone has bad days, unfortunately!

Ash-you have friends more than you know.
