I liked Stewie's version better!
How William Shitner has had as successful a career as he has is a mystery to me!

He does also make a spectacle of himself on that game show that he hosts. Some people just need to quick acting, especially when they try to act younger.

I think Shatner is great simply due to the fact that he doesn't take himself seriously. Far too many actors and actresses think of themselves as national treasures.

Well now, a thread I can actually post on. I think Shatner's ego thing is just a big put on. I"m sure he laughs all the way to the bank too. Star Trek for me was simply hillarious and I looked forward to it every night as a young adult.

He definitely has ego, TT, but he's also very self-effacing, which is refreshing. Put it this way, there's not too many actors/actresses that don't have huge ego's.

I love William Shatner!
I think he does a great job of poking fun at himself and allowing others to make fun of him, too.
I can never see him, though, without remembering that SNL skit he did several years ago, where he played himself, talking to fans at a Trekkie convention.
"Get a life, people!!!"

I saw that!
It was very tongue-in-cheek, but when you think about it...we're living in Star Trek now. . . almost. If we could just get that warp drive fixed....

I kind of like Shatner too..
I think his demonstrated ego is mostly put-on, and he seems to have no problem laughing at himself. He also seems to have a better time with it all than do most celebs of that caliber. I see him as very confident, but not particularly arrogant.
It is true though that they all have large egos. That's the biggest reason that they're driven to be celebs to begin with..

we're living in Star Trek now. . . almost. Other than a vague resemblance to the communicator by a flip phone, I'd hardly say we're living in Star Trek.
There are no transporters, phasers, photon torpedoes, holodecks, replicators, positronic brains, space aliens and there will be no first contact with the Vulcans in 2063.
Star Trek is more fantasy than real science fiction.

Anyway. William Shatner is funny. I liked him on Fresh Prince of Bel Air that one time.
