My mother used to tell me that no one can ever kiss their own elbow. Aggravated me trying.
Also, she would say that no one has EVER seen their own face. You can see a reflection...but never the actual face.

I actually believe that...People can't see past their self esteem or ego to see theirselves. It falls into the whole "If you could see what you looked like to me then you would be suprised" category.

Glass is a liquid it never completely ‘sets’!
The bottom of a ’shop window’ is thicker then the top because of the flow.

To "testify" was based on men in the Roman court swearing to a statement made by swearing on their testicles.

Romans would conclude a business deal by getting ‘drunk’ together!
They would then pay ‘sober’ scribes to record their conversations. The reason they did this is because they considered alcohol to be a ‘truth’ drug!
Er, the things you say when you have had a drink eh?

This just sounded a little too 'urban legend' for me....had to dig a little...even though I thought it was an interesting idea. Wonder what women swore on?
It is first recorded in English in the late 14th century as testifie, having come from Late Latin testificare "to bear witness, proclaim". That word was formed from testi(s) "witness" and ficus "making". Testis comes from the Indo-European root trei- "three", with the sense of a "third person standing by (as a witness)".
There is a popular notion which suggests that Latin testis "witness" is related to testis "testicle", by the idea that a testicle "bears witness" of virility. This has not been proven, and some believe that testis "testicle" is actually related to Latin testa "pot, shell".

Not to sure ether way on this! Remember that the ‘14th century’ is one thousand and four hundred years after ‘Christ’ and that it was the Romans that crucified him!
But I prefer the testicles one! ‘If I’m not telling the truth, then you can cut my testicles of!
It would make me say it like it is!

The old saying "Never Look At A Gifted Horse IN The Mouth"
Comes from the 18th-19th century; when a horse was given as a gift, by looking at its teeth, one could tell its age.
