I miss Jankia. I think he's one of the better people in these forums. In fact, I'd take Jan in a prickly mood over RQ in a heartbeat!!!! I'm glad it is possible to stay in touch with him.....thanks for that, Brenda!!!

Heh. I would point you to some of Jankia's more "prickly" posts during the past year except that they were deleted by the mods. You don't have to accept my word for it, however. Others, including Heaveninawildflower and Sunbabe, can testify that Jankia's posts became increasingly bitter during the past few months. I recall more than one post in which the ladies said that they missed the sweet guy that he had been earlier. That was why I said that he needed a bit of time away from the forums. A break every now and then can help us regain some perspective.

As to whether I am always so nasty, let me remind me that I grew up in Illinois. When I bite you, babe, you will know it because it will scar you for life. Luckily, however, I am one of the most courteous members in these forums.

First of all, I ain't "babe" to you.

I am well aware that Jan had some prickly posts, and prick'ly' isn't quite the word I'd use for it. After all the goading and tension in those threads, it's no wonder y'all don't need a break. However, I addressed that with him, I didn't call him down in a forum.

You say you are courteous, but I have my doubts that your courtesies are sincere, since you have so many nasty comments to make here in the forums.

I don't know what Illinois has to do with 'biting', but be forewarned, I bite back, and you couldn't possibly scar me for life.

Edited to add:
Your post on page two of this thread does indeed say you think he needs a breather from MD...however, this:
I lost count of how many times that cranky old geezer threatened to leave us only to pop up again a few days later. I figured he would only leave if he got banned. I'm sure he will be back tho: He is hopelessly addicted to MD and I'll bet he is already suffering from forum withdrawal!
is what got my dander up and cemented my doubs about your character. It's just downright belligerent.

Sorry folks.

You missed the entire point of my post, Empath. Allow me to clarify: Different people have different standards. What you consider abuse may not even faze another person or may be considered affectionate or even provoke a completely unexpected reaction. I added a wink to my last comment, for example, because I consider a wink in these forums to be an indication of a humorous comment whereas you (if I interpret your remarks correctly) considered the comment to be totally serious. I grew up in a corner of Illinois where verbal and physical abuse from your peers is considered normal: Words and insults that might wound or provoke others don't even faze me. Nothing that I have said in regard to Jankia is intended to cause offense. If it had been, it would have been (according to my standards) much, much more vicious. You seem to feel that I am insulting him, but there is a flaw in that theory: All of my comments regarding Jankia are public knowledge. Others have made similar remarks. I have not betrayed any confidences nor revealed anything that Jankia himself did not reveal. He has made many similar or even harsher comments in many different threads here and I see no reason why he should be exempt from criticism which may or may not be accurate. If you think it is inaccurate--and I have already explained why I thought it was accurate--then feel free to tell me why. Otherwise you are just wasting your time looking for malignant content in my words.

Incidentally, if you review this thread you will note that Heaveninawildflower was the first to use the term "prickly." I simply borrowed it since it was less offensive than any other term that I might have used.

I have seen most of the threads and posts to which you refer; I don't wish to read them again. I see no positive result in poking at an angry bear, and my opinion is that is what you like to do.

I have a penchant for 'breaking cycles', RQ, so to say that because you grew up in a tough neighbourhood is no reason (to me) to speak as you do to people who did not grow up in that neighbourhood, ie. the members of this forum.
Perhaps such comments don't faze you, but they often infuriate and inflame others, and if you are aware of that fact, then shame on you for continuing the behaviour. I suppose my error lies in my expectations of others who are completely aware of what they are doing and then try to justify it rather than do something positive about it.

However, as you say....different strokes...so carry on.... toodles.

Does this imply that we shouldn't have discussions in forums unless we are getting along and having fun?

Will this be while you are sitting in your lawn chair, white undershirt and bermuda shorts, drinking a Budweiser?
If so, my Mom's neighbor can train ya!

RQ, You will be lucky to reach the over 50 mark from the way it sounds. Don't consider myself an "old geezer" at 63 and just for your edification I invested wisely and have been retired now for 5 years and enjoy each and every day and do what I please. You need to chill out some and remember that you are just a young kid to some of us out here and we laugh at your SA remarks.

Just for the record, I used prickly, and meant just that...just as we're mostly getting a little more 'prickly' about the whole thing than I think it warrants.

Jankia's been saying for awhile that if his relationshp works out, he'll be bowing out, and Tink's obviously been very happy with hers. I for one, just hope they're enjoying themselves and don't feel any need to come back, but I'll welcome them warmly if they do, regardless of whether i agree with anything they say or not...

That said, I think I'm gonna go out and pick some prickly pear leaves to leave on Enc's lawn chair...

And guys, don't make assumptions...just please be a little kinder than you really need to be. It won't hurt you, really.

Loreli and Razz !!!

I was thinking going more of the older southern gentlemen type, straw hat, shirt buttoned to the top, thick black rimmed glasses and a cane! Add to that I'd be sipping on my Long Island ice tea!

I'll skip the walker cause the cane's easier to shake at the kids!!

But I'm sure I could pick up some tips from your mom's neighbor Lor!!
