Have we humans become too lazy to TYPE the word "TOO" or "TO"? Is it too much of a hassle to type the "T",the "O", then another "O"? How about the word "YOU"? Is it that teachers in this country forgot to teach children how to spell that word, or have our teachers begun accepting homework where the students substitute "U" for "YOU", 2 for "TOO" or "TO"? I've even seen where a person typed "B" instead of "BE" My GOD!!! How much f***ing trouble is it to type that extra letter?!?! There are dozens more examples, but I think I've made my point(and probably a few enemies in the process!)!
Personally, I KNOW who is to blame for this very unhealthy trend.... Bin Laden. Of course, it COULD be global warming!(HAH!)!

You know what the bad thing is with so many bad spellers and people who don't use proper grammar? I start typing something and I usually know how to spell but see a word and think to myself "Is this spelled correctly or not?". It is all because I have seen certain words spelled wrong for so long I think.
I also type dislexic(is there a word for that?), but only when I'm very tired. These words drive me insane too.There/their/to/too.
*ducks and covers*

You mean dYslexic(Sorry.. I couldn't resist! )
Well, I think that some of the blame can be put on "The Media"! But I think the majority of the blame rests on the shoulders of "Corporate America"!! How many times have you picked up a product at a store, and seen the "cute" way they've spelled a word? For example.. "Bag O' Beans"! I think most of this is on children's products; toys, cereal, etc.!
I remember a few years ago, I e-mailed a girl who had her profile on matchdoctor. She was from my city! I was thrilled that she and I actually lived close to each other. THEN, I received her reply... I'm paraphrasing here..."Nice 2 hear from U I've checked your profile B4, and liked what I read.." "B4?!?!?!?! Give me a fu(king BREAK!!! I immediately thought(And later confirmed by her own admission) that she had done drugs in the past! I believe that she said she worked in a dark room... I guess all those years of drug abuse, scorched her retinas! Thanks, but NO thanks!

well for one, I AM dyslexic, but that's my problem and not anyone else's, so I've learned to cope with it. As for others who type so l33t (elite according to net slangers), some are being pretentiously cool and others...well....others really aren't that gifted and that's just how they spell. Stormy I agree with your summation on corporate America, the ever elusive search for product branding and identity. But you also have to remember..the English language is dynamic and always will be. Think 100 years ago, then 200, then 300 and so on..and soon you get the picture.
ya know what I mean Vern?

We sure do have a melting pot in USA don't we? Gee, back after pilgrims landed, imagrants came from all over that survived the voyage. Scotland, Ireland, Danish, Orients, etc. We had orignal tongues perse'. If you look at original Documents, the spelling of certain letters were not like they are today. the 'f' was acutally an 's', and so on. When in school, in english class, words always seem to have derived from anglo-saxon and latin. Kinda neat to cover history of our english language.

Stormy, I'm with you, but I sort of got called a bitch in another thread for it. *shrugs*.
I think I eliminate 99% of my contact e-mails or IMs due to bad grammar, all caps or lack of punctuation.

For me, spelling counts. Not interested in shortcut spelling or decoding every message from someone. If the profile has misspelled words - that's a turn-off (hoping everyone will check mine because I haven't ). If the emails have U instead of YOU, I ignore them. I suspect we all type quickly and I'm know typos kreap into posts - but that's not what I'm talking about.
