Engines need 3 things to work; fuel, spark, and compression.

If the engine is turning over, I would guess its either fuel or spark related ( compression issues are not as common, I don't think ). Either no spark is getting to the cylinders, or no fuel to the engine. Since you've had fuel pump problems, perhaps there is still an issue with that ( loose wire for the fuel pump, etc. ), or a partly clogged fuel line, plugged injector system, etc. Often you can remove the fuel line where it connects to the carb/injector system, crank the engine, and see if fuel actually pumps out of the fuel line ( helps to have someone hold it in/over a container so fuel doesn't end up all over your engine ). If so, your pump is probably ok.

You can also remove a spark plug wire, hold it near a manifold, crank the motor, and see if it is getting spark ( again, help is good on this ).

Is it turning over at all? If not, there could be a dozen things wrong.

Many cars have an onboard computer system that will give you troubleshooting codes for your car, usually you turn the ignition on ( NOT start, just on ), back off, then on again; your Engine light will flash a certain pattern. This is a code you can reference to see just what the issue may be.

Hope that helps a little, and I'm not a mechanic, so hopefully that was somewhat accurate.

red have your timing belt checked, if that is going bad then you will have the spark issue also.

I have no idea if you have your problem addressed but we need to know if the motor is turning over. If so it would come down to fuel or air. I beleive that car has a mass air flow meter on it.

If it says nothing and doesnt turn over. I would suspect you either have a bad spot on your starter or a bad ignition switch on the column or the one under the dash on the column.

But I am throwing stones in the dark not knowing more of the characteristics.

Laid back we did the spark test and the plugs etc are fine so its in the fuel system.. might be trash in the line since he changed all that out.. fuel pump etc.. thanks for the suggestions.. and LOL RED..

Does the engine say nothing when you turn the key?
Turn key----> Click click click

or

Does the engine turn over and never start running?

Does the engine turn over but slowly?

This is what I mean. The new parts mean nothing. I have gotten new parts that were defective.

What happens when you turn the key?

Thats good baby.

Maybe I need to get me an escort. I have a range rover that stays at the dealer. And I never get out of there for less than 1500 a pop. But of course i never learn my lesson, I'll probably replace it with another one. Hopefully they will get you up and running. Be patient. Stay sweet babe!

Your car is equipped with a computer controlled engine management system. An independent auto service center can scan your computer for fault or error codes. The information should pinpoint the malfunctioning components.

It could be many things.

Maybe your battery is not batting.

Or perhaps your carburetor isn't carbing.

Even your pistons may not be. . .

pistoning.

Red-- I can totally relate to your car problems.

My truck broke down (wheel bearings) 2 hours from home.
I had to leave it, the county sherriff had it towed.
It cost me $240 to get it back. I had to pay towing cost
plus storage fees ($15 a day). I had to leave it there for a week
becuase I live too far from there to go get it after I get off wrok.
That sux!
