I have not been on vacation in 21 years. I am going to Punta Cana in two weeks. Have you ever been there (whether alone or with someone)? What did you think of it? I'm going with a group from church including our pastor people--that outta keep me legal!!!
Got any useful hints?

Very nice area. If you're planning on the Bavaro Beach area about 70-80% of the women maybe topless. You'll see all sizes and ages. You'll love it.......the area I mean.
Have a very enjoyable trip, don't forget your camera.

Swing: ROFLMAO ; we shouldn't tease--O.K., O.K., it's hard not to!!
Louisiana: I'm to the point that if I don't go my body is going to crap out on me---I am exhausted! I've been at work all day, but played around on MD instead of working. I'm going to get in trouble if I don't cut this out! My point: Go for it. Even to a bed and breakfast for a weekend or something. I'm actually a little nervous--I've never been out of the country. When I get back from Punta Cana, I then have two weeks at home then off to Kissimee for a work conference.
Oh, and I fully intend to take my own advice from now on! Hang in there.

Great idea! I asked a couple of people in the parish what they thought I should do: Tell Father about it or let him be surprised. Those evil wenches told me not to say anything to him!

MY dream is to go on a cruise one day If you've never been on a cruise, let me give you a little heads up that I found out about the hard way. Cruise lines advertise that everything is included, right? What they don't tell you is to bring a couple of hundred extra dollars for tips. On the last day of the cruise you'll find tip envelopes in your cabin, and lots of them. Some from people you've never seen or heard of. They expect you to tip everyone from the cabin attendants to waiters, head waiters, waiter captains, bartenders, lifeguards, deck stewards and other people that I have no idea what they do. So be prepared to hand out the bucks, it can easily add 1/3 or more to the cost of the cruise. They also give you a "suggested gratuity amount" for each person, usually between $1 - $5 per day. This is in addition to any tips you might give out during the trip. I've cruised on Carnival and Holland America ships, and Carnival is more demanding about this tip stuff than HA (which Carnival owns).

I wonder if this "all-inclusive" trip I'm on is going to be like that. Supposedly, gratuities are included in the price. We'll see........

Well, I thought I'd warn my priest so that he can--ahem--prepare himself for the view. He just looked at me and said, "well, if you've seen one you've seen 'em all!" Right - he doesn't even know there are TWO!
He did inform me, however, that I do NOT have permission to go topless!!! Doggone it! O.K., truth to tell--I wouldn't anyway as Henrietta and Alice have NEVER been exposed to the sun ; it would be just my luck I'd blister and have to watch my boobs turn all dry and crunchy. Hmmmmm, I best let this one go for now.....

Anybody want to know about Punta Cana (straightforward review), write me. Oh, and the beach was barely 2% topless and that 2% shouldn't have even been in bathing suits let alone topless. Holy Smokes!! I didn't know the human body could be shaped in some of the ways I saw!!

It is southeast of Cuba. Beautiful beaches, gorgeous hotel, mediocre food, high prices and THEY DON'T TAKE AMERICAN EXPRESS! The people are warm and friendly. But guess who had to pay $50 for a six pound overweight bag, then guess whose bag got lost. Then guess who needed to buy supplies, but none of the shops in the hotel took American Express. Thank God it was an all-inclusive vacation so I had a place to stay and food to eat, but all I had to wear was a sweater and jeans. Very hot in 86 degree weather The bag arrived 24 hours later. At least I got it back. Oh, and don't drink fresh coconut juice--IT'S A LAXATIVE!
I would never take children there, but it's a great place to go with someone special. My "someone special" was a sweet ol' 79 year old lady whose family decided she needed a vacation. and sent her with our group. The waves lapping at her feet knocked her over so she refused to go to the beach and she couldn't lift her luggage at all. So, I did the "caretaker" thing all week.
