I've seen some portraits on the side- those tiny thumbnails- reading the forum and for a few chuckles I wanted to check out male profiles...I mean- c'mon I saw a profile of a guy with a mullet hair cut..and another that looked like a guy wearing a wizards hat....however, it occurred to me when they check the "who's viewed me" or whatever its called they might get the wrong idea. 
So, I'll stick to checking out the ladies side 
Guys: How many winks or emails are you getting from Chinese ladies/women? (or Eastern Block old USSR country's)
I got about 5 this week, all willing to send photos and bank accounts where I can send money for plane tickets no doubt. The best was one who had already fallen in love with me via my profile.
Ladies: Whats the equivalent (like our probable fictitious Chinese girls) you receive?

Seriously though.
*emphasizes next sentence* It would be better if....I could put in my profile...seeking Men AND women...so the women weren't intimidated or turned off.
 but I suppose asking for "equal rights" is only a pipe dream.

The danged *Who's Viewed Me* notification!!
I often want to check profiles after reading a post or a blog but I feel it can send an unintentional message.
Hey.
Just 'cause I looked at your profile does NOT mean I want to meet you, to date you, to have sex with you, to chat with you, or anything else. It simply means I want to get a better sense of the person who posted.
Simple.
But I have found that I can view profiles without having logged on.
heh heh.
I would like to add that the words in a profile often mean absolutely nothing to some people. It says (loudly) in my profile that I am in a relationship & I am NOT LOOKING ... but

Ladies: Whats the equivalent (like our probable fictitious Chinese girls) you receive? I've had a few from the states that said they were in love with me. Another said he wanted to shoot a game of pool with me, and if he won I had to marry him 
I also found out be pmail that I was to receive a large inheritance, and I was to contact Frank immediately. (then I found out a bunch of others here got that same mail..
I had one from Africa that wanted to come here to be with me...
And one man sent a VERY nasty email b****ing me out about religion. Wierd.
Makes reading mail very interesting!
I also look at females profiles when they are writing here, to see what kind of person they are. And we had a big winkfest here a few months ago-everyone was winking at everyone!

If you're really bothered by being seen, you can turn off tracking in 'settings'. I look at womens' profiles, and I know other woman look at mine. Matter of fact I started corresponding with one who's now my housemate.
And I'd wink at you too LGQ, in a grandmotherly sort of way...

Like Jen said, sometimes I click on a profile after reading someone's blog or forum posts just to get a better perspective on who they are (not that it always helps) and it does not matter to me what gender the person is, nor does it occur to me that someone might take it to be more than what it is.

Ha- I'm a noob! Figured it out.
Ok, next question: When someone sends you a PM- and says, dont use the system email send me an email at blahblay@hotmail/freemail/etc.com, THAT is a pretty good clue its probably bogus, yes?
I mean, I wouldn't (on the first "hello") send a private message saying here, use my email addy- your thoughts ladies, do you send first messages and immediately go to the personal email?

My favorite has to be the kind where they are in love with me; BUT they word it in such a way that if I am a man they love me / if I am a woman they love me - so; no matter which I may be - I am loved. 
I think; probably every one gets 'those' kind; some more then others.
I get a kick out of them; don't get offended - and usually cut and paste them and send to mates to get a chuckle out of.
As for checking out other womens profiles - if I write a blogg or comment on one - and my blogg or comment is commented on - I usually check to see who the person is; male or female. I don't think they think I am either bi or lesbian - BUT just that I am curious. So, check them if you want to...

Any time someone has made an interesting post or blog, I check out their profile, just because I am curious about that person....male or female since I have found this site a great way to make friends! And yes, I checked yours out too, Medina!
Sometimes I look more than once to refresh my memory on where that person lives, etc.

I have to admit, I click on a profile w/ no pic, and the name is somewhat generic, only to figure out if they are male or female. Now, just out of curiosity, how do you think their search is going? Maybe they don't care, but it doesn't make sense to me.  Well to each his/her own. I generaly don't click on a guys profile , I can tell enough by thier posts, but I do check the ladies profile to find out more about them and where they live, But, that makes sense, because I'm intrested in women and not men.

Blueyes, you can tell by the colour of the person's name: if it is pink, then they are female, if it is blue they are male.
