I gotta say I liked NASCAR a whole lot better in the pre-Winston Cup days. From the start of NASCAR back in the 40's to about 1974 it was great, real stock car racing. Once they got away from looking like something you could go down to the dealer on Mon after the race and buy, and started to look like pure race cars, I lost some interest. Dale Earnhardt Jr just can't can't compare to Fireball Roberts in a '64 Ford, or Richard Petty in a '66 Plymouth. Now NASCAR has no real stock cars, you might as well be watching sports cars at Le Mans or something.

Lol, Did someone say racing???

I love to watch some of the older ones too. I thinkj it was Petty going thrugh the finish line backwards? I might have the wrong person though.

Jr will be alright once he gets over being shy.

There was nothing worse than seeing the Intiminator in rear rearview mirror.

DEI is run by Theresa, Dale Sr's, widow, Jr for the most part is just a paid employee, which is why the contract negotiations are having some trouble, a mediator has stepped in to help smooth things over.Chilress has made it known Jr is welcome anytime.......And Jr. has Jr racing, where he owns his own Busch team..

The St. Pete Times paper today said that Jr. gave Teresa "the word" last week, either I have control of DEI or I won't be driving for you next year. Just wondered if anything had been settled yet. But thanks for the info blueyes.

I used to have a bumper sticker on an old car that read:
"We inturrupt this marriage to bring you the racing season."

So true. Go Dale Jr.!

Is Mikey Waltrip still racing? Last time I watched, my hero died. I doubt I will watch it again. Too much pain still. I only watched for Dale Senior.

Mikey started his own team with Dale Jarret, Brian Vickers,,,Oh crap ther is more...I'll get back to you...or just look him up on his website...He built a new shop, with a campground attached so you stay right at his shop grounds, and take a tour, pretty neat concept.

Is he winning? He did real bad after Dale died, We put him in a prayer circle and he started winning like crazy.

I was real concerned because he kept getting into wrecks. We got that he had a program to do that and it looked like that stopped too.

Last year he left DEI, and teamed up with Bill Davis racing. They were in a transition last year, now he is starting a huge team all driving the new Toyotas, and they came out with a car of tomorrow- designed by NASCAR- (more equal/safer) so it should be interesting. But, no last year was not good for him. And it was never publically discused why he left DEI, Not sure if it was Jr, or Theresa....or both.........

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- What's in a name? Everything.

At least in the case of Dale Earnhardt Inc., the race team spawned by the late, great NASCAR champion who died six years ago on the final turn of the Daytona 500.

And his wrong-headed widow, Theresa, who has been running the family business since his death, should know that.

She should know that all those fiercely loyal race fans who cheered so passionately for so long for Dale Sr. _ all those Earnhardt supporters who blindly adopted her stepson and embraced him with the same love and devotion they gave his father _ will continue to follow Dale Jr., regardless of whose car he's driving.

She should know that without Dale Jr., who just happens to be the most popular driver in the sport, her late husband's company will suffer another fatal crash.

She, of all people, should know better than to mess with Dale Sr.'s kid.

Because Dale Jr. isn't going to back down.

Major figures inside DEI, either still working there or now departed, have long complained about the widow's absentee ownership. Earnhardt Jr. has been frustrated that "a lot of the problems in the past were that it (his part in his father's company) was just clunky in how it went along. You just really could never get the gears meshed."

"Richie (Gilmore, the DEI general manager) and I have told Teresa that if she's going to spend four or five weeks straight on that boat of hers, she's going to have to let us run the company," said Tony Eury Sr., architect of Junior's Budweiser No. 8 team.

The boat she stays on 4-5 weeks at a time is the one Dale Sr. had special made before he died...Not long after his death...They delivered the boat as planned... Coming right through Morehead NC...OMG...It's a awesome boat...

I personally feel Teresa should give control of DEI to Dale Jr...Cause at the rate she is going it's gonna go under...And if Jr leaves she will lose it all without a doubt...

Oh well. Maybe that is what she wants to experience. I am sure Jr will have plenty of support.

I remember when he first came online with the team. Sure was fun seeing them together. That would have been the most awesome thing if Senior had lived. He held the others back as Waltrip and Jr sailed across the finish line in first and second. Sure would have been awesome to see him with them. I cried for weeks.
