I have just learned that apparently there are such things as blog wars, blog bashing, blog fights, etc. I'm not exactly sure how it's done, but can assume that perhaps one person posts a blog, bashes the hell out of someone, then that other blogger blogs about the first and so Blogs of Our Lives goes on...
But why do people blog in the first place? I don't quite get it. If I want to discuss something or say something, I'm just gonna post it here. If I want to tell someone that I think they suck, again I'm just gonna kindly shove it to their face. I mean if I blog about it they may not read it and they may never know that I think they suck. That would REALLY suck.
Now, if I want to keep a diary I wouldn't want the whole internet to read it, now would I? So why would I blog my diary? And besides who cares what dish washing liquid I use? Oh yeah, people blog about the strangest stuff...
Think I'm a tad confused about all this...

I've wondered why a lot of the same topics discussed in the forums end up in personal blogs..
Maybe some people want their stuff out there-be it good or bad.

But I'm bitchin' just fine here. And pissing off an occasional someone here and there... My wall really couldn't care less. :(
And if you discuss something here, then why blog about it? I'd hate to type twice... Or maybe for some it's more fun to talk behind backs? That's messed up...

Sun! Good way to put it! 
They're just more personal than a forum I think, and space where you can be more personal. It's also more free of a place to post whatever you want without having to have it in a specific area or thread. More control over it too.
Just mho. Hadn't heard about all the blog wars things and such though. I can see it happening easily enough though

I've always thought of them like having your own op/ed column. Particularly for those who like to write, it provides a place in which to exercise (practice).
Different audience than in the forums, too. More real readers than talkers, so to speak.
YMMV....

Mary... I never understood it either. I'm glad that I'm not the only one.  I think that people that respond to blogs in a negative way for all of cyber space to read is just plain MEAN!  Like my mom always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, then, don't say anything at all!"
