OK-this might belong in health column, but when I get the dang hiccups, I get them back at least a time or two the same day. And they HURT! Anyone have sure-fire cures? (I've tried drinking water upside down, a spoonful of sugar, and Roses of Lime)

Here's one that always works, drink a glass of water with a napkin/paper towel over the top, it causes you to create a suction and pulls unwanted air for your tummy, and takes the hic ups away. Sounds silly but it is great way to earn money in the bar............

Did anyone here the story about the girl that was hiccuping like 50 times per minute? I think it was on the today show. The doctors dont know whats going on. When I get them I just drink a whole bunch of water and they go away.

I do the same thing, Lori. If I get them once, I have them all day.
Holding my breath as long as I can while chugging a big glass of water works every time.

I go with a spoonful of sugar.. it disrupts the muscle spasms .. sucking a lemon sometimes works too.

BTW.... About the girl who had the horrible case of hiccups... She was apparently cured... a woman gave her a metal tumbler that had a metal rod protruding from the side, and when she drank water from it, her hiccups cleared up! It was called a "HIC-CUP!" I kid you not!!! That was actually on the news!

What always works for me is just drinking about half a glass of water very slowly and steadily, in other words never let it stop flowing, (slow and steady-which is the key), which of course includes holding your breath while doing it. If you stop in the middle of it, the hiccups will usually return.
Never fails.

Have you tried river dancing on top of hot coals while singing..... I'm a little teapot short and stout.....
I'll try to think of a few other home remedys.
