my gramma Daisy is taking it right now. She takes a pill right before her PT and one before bed at night. She hasn't had any problems with it. I just took a benedryl with it to curb the itching.

I thought Hydrocodone was the generic of Lortab. It is the only thing that helps my pain but the drs won't give it after 90 days from surgery. (or at least that is how it is with Workmans comp) It is a narcotic and a very popular drug of choice of addicts. Therefore we have to suffer because it is so widely abused. I never had many side effects from it except dry mouth. I never felt high from them, but they did help me sleep. BTW, when your grandmother gets her refills, always count them before leaving. They are so desired you are likely to be shorted on them...happened to me more than once.

My grandmother had severe confusion and does not remember much about those days that she took it. When she stopped taking it, she got better.
I don't know if she took more than what was prescribed or not. Very strange.

sounds like she was getting a hefty dose.. or maybe in combination with something else she was taking made her confused. My gram hasn't complained with side effects.. and she never takes pain meds.. not even tylenol. I was very surprised that she tolerated it so well.

Warrior...that is a common side effect of any narcotic..especially when taken by the elderly.
Lortab/Vicodan - trade names for the generic drug hydrocodone. They contain Tylenol too. Another name you mght see is Norco.
Feel free to email me if you have questions

Don't screw with opiates like Lortabs/Vicodin otherwise you'll be standing up at a meeting and saying I'm So-and-So, and I'm a drug addict.
Also, the withdrawals are aweful.

The only side effect I have from Vicodin is that it doesn't work for me. After some surgery last summer, I was sent home with Vicodin and and extra-strength Ibuprofen. The Vicodin was slightly better than nothing. Only the ibuprofen helped dull the pain. That's happened to me before with Vicodin. Must be something in my system. Now if they would only have sent me home with that great stuff they give you in hospital.............

Suzie some people have a higher tolerance for certain drugs and then they just don't work. Like everyone raves to me about Aleve for headaches. Doesn't do a damn thing for me. I am allergic to codeine though, so I have to watch out for anyone who doesn't like me giving me strange medications

I was given Vicodin after having my wisdom teeth pulled. I passed out both times I took it. They told me not to take it anymore. It is also in my med. chart that I am intolerant. They said it was actually wierd that I could take Tylenol 3 with no effect, but couldn't handle the vicodin.
