wednesday is pi day...time to celebrate with a slice of 'pi'...
what will you be having for dinner/lunch that has 'pi' in it??
(Piña Colada, pie, pizza)
i think we'll have the pizza...
also...you could have 3.14 pizzas for dinner! hehehe
~other dates when 'pi' day is celebrated...
March 14 is the approximation for Pi: 3.14 April 26 (when the distance of the Earth's orbit divided by the time it has traveled so far is equal to pi; on leap years the 25th) July 22 (22/7 in some date formats, a popular approximation of pi) November 10 (the 314th day of the year; on leap years the 9th) December 21, 1:13 p.m. (the 355th day of the year, celebrated at 1:13 for the Chinese approximation 355/113)
Pi is equal to 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510...

A picnic would be nice...think I might do that for supper. Spread a blanket on the grass and have salad and sandwiches, and maybe some pink lemonade. Wish I had some pie now though...

I'll pass on that...I'd rather derive my diameter using pi and my circumference...I think it would be a lot less painful than measuring my diameter.

The current state of pi. Pi is an infinity number, it has been calculated out to more than a trillion decimal places though. Here's a cite from Wiki about it:
The record as of December 2002 by Yasumasa Kanada of Tokyo University stands at 1,241,100,000,000 digits, which were computed in September 2002 on a 64-node Hitachi supercomputer with 1 terabyte of main memory, which carries out 2 trillion operations per second, nearly twice as many as the computer used for the previous record (206 billion digits).

Hmmmm....how much faster is that than the Commodore 64 I use at home???? The C64 used a MOS-T 6510 processor running @ 1.02 MHZ, so rounding it off, your C64 runs @ ~ 1,000,000 operations per second. That makes the Hitachi just 200,000 times faster than your C64
