Did you see the movie Borat ?
Yesterday evening I watched that movie.
I think that it's offensive about Khazakhi and Americans.
It's original story but also gross and stupid....maybe I don't understand a real meaning of it ... if there is a real meaning ......
What do you think ?

This movie is wickedly funny and that's exactly what it is meant to be. It is a very controversial film because the laughs are at the expense of Kazakhstan. It picks up every single stereotype of their and culture and rolls with it.
No matter how the country of Kazakhstan is portrayed in the movie, the country itself has a market economy because of its vast natural resources (oil!). It's been independent of the Soviet Union since 1991 and has enjoyed political stability. It's banking sector is growing strong also.
I happen to be doing a presentation in my Geography class about Kazakhstan which is why I know this stuff. If the movie Borat! is the only source of information you have about the country, then you'd probably think it was a pretty backward place. Much of it is still very rural, but there's more to it than just that!

I don't see how anyone can watch Borat and be offended by it.
In fact I kind of laugh at that notion that it's offensive.
It's a satire. The people who should be offended are the Americans, because we're the ones who had the worst of our society displayed on screen for the world to see. And the worst part is it wasn't a lie or an act.
But it was hilariously funny.

Didn't see it and frankly have no desire to see it.
From what I have seen and heard, it's quite tasteless. Dunno about offensive and all that stuff, but in poor taste definitely.

I haven't seen it, but I can't stand the guy!! HE is offensive. Yargh!! 
So I probably won't see it either. Unless kidnapped at gunpoint and forced to, against my will..

The naked fight scene was the best ever. So glad I was not eating or drinking anything. I like the movie because people act to proper. That movie caught a lot of people off guard, from homosexuality to sexism to racisim. This country still has some backwardness to it. I love how the movie captialized on it... I wish he could do another...

Now "the running of the Jew"......that was funny. I love how the little muslim kids pounced on the "jew egg" and beat it like a pinata.
