With the recent events of VT I decided to maybe show you a little bit better the "scene" behind people that sometimes think the way the VT murderer did. I am a 21 year old out of southwest Michigan and I spend a LOT of time online- mostly networking for my home based business. I see a LOT of youth online and lately- have been noticing the "e-vibe" and "trends" of whats cool with our online-youth. I think you'd be surprised at what I found. Below I listed several sites where HUNDREDS of YOUTH talk about killing people, HOW they would do it and WHO they would do it to. Slightly disturbing. http://www.43things.com/things/view/13726 - this is a site where kids talk about 43 things they would like to do in their lifetime- this is a straight link to over 200 kids who all say they would like to kill different people, who, how and why. just click under their names and read the blogs. http://www.whowouldyoukill.com - this is a site that talks about who would like to kill celebrities- who how and why. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kill_puppies_for_satan - this is wikipedia's definition of a new online craze called "kill puppies for satan" - basically- you "pretend" to kill something innocent- like a puppy, and kill it for satan and the belief is that then satan will then give you supernatural powers.- this is a craze ive personally seen in SEVERAL forums and blogs- where people are saying they've LITERALLY followed the rules and claim to have actually received "supernatural satanic powers". http://www.lumpley.com/games/excerpts.html#pupex1 - this is the site that promotes "how to kill puppies" and how to play and why its good to help Satan. http://geekrawk.wordpress.com/2006/09/13/kill-emo/ - this is a group of bloggers on wordpress.com who have come together to bash the "emo" FASHION style. Its mostly about how they look and WHY they should all be killed. This is just ONE example of how the youth is quite often targeting people that should be killed based on what they wear, how they look and what MUSIC they like. http://quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=297138&first=yes - several students a youth alike visit quizfarm.com to take polls. several polls, such as this one, ask you questions to determine how YOU might kill someone you hate. this one is directly about the social group "preps" titled, "how would you kill a prep" after taking the quiz- it will give you how you are most likely to be successful at killing preps by using. it then provides a code that you can cut and paste to be able to post on your myspace to flaunt to the world. http://quiz.myyearbook.com/zenhex/quiz.php?id=113630 - this is another like the above- but only 5 questions long and helps you to determine how you would kill your roomate- it also provides a code that you can post on your myspace. http://www.godhatesfags.com/main/index.html - this is from the westboro Baptist church- promotes hate- this next site is a direct poll taken how how people would like to kill every member of this hate group- http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/forums/thread.asp?Forum=113&Thread=651716 http://www.43things.com/things/view/6717 this is a group of about 20 kids who said theyd like to kill the PRESIDENT before they die.- last i knew that was completly against the law... idiots. this and several others like them are ALL OVER the Internet and about 80% (my opinion form what i've seen) KIDS under the age of 17. Just something to maybe look into.

I didnt know and its sad. So many people are thinking like this and I wonder why. Whats so wrong in their lifes. One word: teenager. Except for a small minority, most feel all kinds of tragedy from the smallest issues. When some of those issues really exist, and they are given a platform and audience to be voiced, lord help us all.

well when it comes to the youth- i blame the parents- so many parents are too busy to pay attention- kids are lacking the attention that is VITAL to a good childhood and its creating these attention SEEKERS-
we're human, we NEED interaction, we NEED touch and to feel cared for-
when we dont get it, it makes us a lil off...
i think it also has a lot to do with the fact that our youth are so easily influenced these days- and mostly because they have no rolemodel at HOME to set the tone for how they SHOULD think and live (manners, respect for people, etc) so they turn to celebrity or friends at school- who ALSO lack the positive influence at home.
its a vicious cycle and I believe SO STRONGLY that it starts and STOPS with the parents.
SO GET IT TOGETHER GUYS!!! jk.. i know its none of YOU... but those of you who ARE parents, set the tone.
i was a nanny for 6 children (all from the same parents- WICKED rich, spoiled and had NO boundries- i quickly changed that) on nantucket island for almost a year and I can tell you- those kids are going to grow up so messed up because of their careless parents- they dont give a hoot what those kids think say or do. the oldest was 9. the youngest was 3. ALL 6 cussed at each other on a daily basis (their favorite was the "fck off" response, called each other names, and were physically violent in very unnormal ways- not your "wrestling around cause we're just kids" we're talkin running after each other with knives.
the short time i was there i KNOW i had an impact on them, and i still keep in touch, theyve tried to hire new nannys and the kids give them hell and they quite, the family really wants me back, but i cant go (long story)... but its experiences like that that make me realize how CRUCIAL it is for parents to pay attention- to show love and compassion to their kids- to set up guildines and follow through with their word- let your NO be NO and your YES be YES. PUNISH YOUR CHILDREN. dispite popular belief, they wont hate you forever and years after they're grown, they'll thank you. Hold them, hug them, kiss them, make them totally sure you love them more then life itself.
the kids i had responded after i did ONE thing- i loved them. I'd cuddle with them, read them stories, spend EVERY WAKING MINUTE with them- and it didnt take long before they listened and obeyed because THEY KNEW (even as kids, theyre smart) that when i said no, it was because i knew what was best for them- and they stopped questioning me.
wow that was long...

One word: teenager. if by teenager you mean kids 13-18 youre sadly mistaken.
go to a local elementary school and listen in. you'd be shocked.
kids are poppin out babies at as young as NINE YEARS OLD. they get their periods and BAM- poppin out babies. it gives NEW meaning to "babies havin babies"- when I was NINE.. i was like "boys have a WHAT?!?!" waay more innocent then they are today.
hell- like those 5th graders that got suspended for having SEX in front of their CLASS...

I'm not surprised. When I was in high school some students brought hand guns to school and sold drugs out of their lockers, most fights were still fist fights. Cops back then used to patrol the campus.
These days students are bringing automatic weapons into class and letting loose. They are being frisked down with metal detectors or drug sniffing dogs as soon as they walk onto campus. They are even having sex right in the classroom during classtime for pete's sake. So I guess this generation has shown up my generation. I wonder what kind of things their children will be doing? BTW I am a product of 60's generation parents.
The advancement of student education in the United States is going in the toilet. Especially with the "No child left behind" program lowering educational standards ..... Plus television to help.
Perhaps you saw my other thread?

When I was growing up, Junior High was far rougher than Senior High.
But, back then, they were weeded out, sent to juvie, suspended or sent to another school. Many of them didn't make it to Senior High.
I don't look at those creepy sites-I have 3 kids-I have seen more than I like between tv reality and our lives.

Depends on the age of the children, if they have been taught right from wrong.
Of course, this kind of stuff is taught in the home, in church and the schools.
Not all kids or adults that do things like this had/have bad parents.

katts- that response was actually relating it to the kids i nanny'd in that not that kids who do this sort of thing have bad parents, but that the ones that DO have bad parents- tend to have these sort of bad behavior tendencies. :-)

kids are poppin out babies at as young as NINE YEARS OLD. they get their periods and BAM- poppin out babies. it gives NEW meaning to "babies havin babies"- Actually I was thinking 14 to 19. Most kids did not start loosing their minds till 15 or 16 from what I remeber.
My niece is 9. A couple months back some kid started talking to her about masterbation. It was an insane uproar in the school, there were several parent teacher meetings about it, and my sister was hysterical for a few days. I am not sure which of our stories are the rule and which is the exception, but I pray to god that yours is the exception, but the cynical side of me doubts it.
Whatever the case, I think choosing the right school for your children may have become more important than ever.

I think our culture is encouraging hatred, anger and violence. The kids see and hear it all over tv and the movies. It is in many of the videos and games they play. Overexposure has made violence seem to be an accepted part of life.
Another thing that is going on is excessive bullying at school. I think that is causing our kids a lot of emotional problems.
A lot of our youth has way too much anger inside of them. There has to be a reason for that.

A lot of our youth has way too much anger inside of them. There has to be a reason for that. im telling you- its NOT the movies and videos games- its the homes they're coming from-
you wanna talk about over exposure to violence?- For the first half of this last 100 years- children where living in DEPRESSIONS- times of economic horror- there where gangfights in the streets- EVERYWHERE- If you think about it- there is nothing new under the sun- saying its movies and videogames is a total cop out for the real problem- THE FAMILIES THESE KIDS ARE COMING FROM-
why arent we seeing these same traits from children being as actively spoken out in other countries?- BECAUSE OUR NATIONS HURT is stronger then the rest.
take a look at the USA's divorce rate.
or how about the fact that there are over 3million kids in our foster homes right now that are READY FOR ADOPTION. we're not just talking about kids in the system- we're talking about ACTUAL children ALREADY ready for adoption- just being tossed around home to home.
what about the number of children born out of wedlock every year? teen pregnancy?
the buck stops with our youth. and whos raising our youth? ALL OF YOUR GENERATIONS- All i can say is- when i have children- I'm not pointing the finger- I'm TAKING responsibility and PERSONALLY making a difference.
Im already working in youth centers in my community as a mentor on TOP of the fact that i nannyd for almost a year for 6 kids- I dont have any kids of my own yet- so until then, i will work with everyone elses- but i'll tell you this much- the day that i DO have kids- They will know no love like that that their mother AND father will be giving them (accept God's of course)-
I'm just saying- if everyone who was "so disturbed" reached out to the children JUST IN THEIR COMMUNITIES- and the children that THEY personally are responsible for- imagine the impact that would have.
I think its time you all stepped up as mothers and fathers of this nation.

Susan Smith...
Im telling you- its NOT the movies and videos games- its the homes they're coming from I disagree sort of. It is the homes these kids are coming from. I dont think most of these parents are bad though just maybe they are busy a lot. They put their kids in front of the tube and let them play video games because there maybe stressed out to and dont have enough time in the day. I here a lot of people say that they work eight hours then go home to their non paying job. Long ago there was violence yes...but these days there seems to be so much more. Maybe it just seems that way because of the media. Partly I do blame the media though. I mean some of the games and movies they put out are horrible and I wonder about the sanity of someone who makes something like that. Long ago there wasnt things like video games. Ive always said this that video games and music...etc dont make a person do something but it does give them bad ideas...

Keep in mind that the teen birth rate has dropped since the '90s. There has been a drop of well over 20% in the last decade. I am not certain how much things have gotten worse, however I am sure that problems are far more publicised, and easily accessable via the internet.
