Take a moment to think about what you really love about this country, and for those of you who live outside the US, please feel free to contribute. We hear so many bad things, lets just see what you all think are the good things. Don't hesitate to mention things that were already mentioned, because this will give all of us a better idea of what we all think is the most important. I truly believe that most folks take many benefits for granted. Please keep this positive, and ask your children what their answers are? It just might surprise you.

Nature. I was a salvage logger for 5 years up in Washington state and I've seen some very beautiful country and animals in nature that were just shock and awe. I would like to see a better enviromental law to protect our forests and animals especially now that this global warming is going to have such a killer effect on all of us plant and animal.

I love my neighbors to the South, well some of 'em anyhow. 
And I love your patriotism, and your anthem, [I know all the words, we be taught that here in grade school] which may I say, is pretty fvckin cool.

Just about everything.
I like that we can argue politics and not kill each other.
I like that we have freedoms some people can't understand.
I like that I can get in my car and drive for days and never see a gubmint checkpoint.
I like that when a disaster hit, the people mobalize to help.
I like my neighbors.
I like KAOS's picture.
I like Painter's eyes.
And I like old fogey's like myself who realized freedom isn't free, and put pen to paper to pay the price.

the PEOPLE!!!
no matter the color...Religion...political preferences..
cowboys , surfers, blue collar, white collar....
We may argue amongst ourselves..like brothers and sisters..
but let someone mess with Family , and it gets nasty!!!
dont know about the rest of the country so much....but i love driving through a country town in Texas...and waving at people ya dont know...and they just Wave back like youre old friends..
i love the Balance..
and i love the fact that as much as i read and hear the everyone in the world "hates America" (which i Do NOT believe)
people still lay down their lives to get here..
and I love the fact that Like it or not...
I can proudly say..
GOD BLESS AMERICA. , LAND THAT I LOVE !!!!!!
What a Great Blog...makes me feel good just talking about it..

The fact that I can own property and I can travel from state to state without being asked for "my papers".
Maybe the thing I love about America is the fact that I can't even begin to list all the reasons.

Excellent answers,  I am so glad you recognized the spirit this type of dialog creates. I realize our country has it's problems, but looking at what we Love about this great country of ours, should help us to remember the good will always out weigh the bad.

I've never been in America but I can say what I love of you and your country:
1) your kindness with your new neigbours (in all movies I see that you always welcome new people with little gifts ..... in Italy never !!!!  )
2) Usa ---- >land where dreams could come true
3) variety of people, culture, style of life
4) New york !!!!
5) great parks
6) football
7) wide spaces

The fact that despite our problems (and everyone, everywhere, has problems) we live in the greatest nation in the world.
I don't see a whole lot of people trying to sneak out, if ya know what I mean.
There's way to much I love about America to try to list here, but just riding American highways adds to my ever growing list.

Some lovely scenery
The Grand Canyon
Diversity
Corn Dogs
Being asked to prove I am over 21 before being served wine !!!! ( aged 41)

The fact that I can still salute the flag and sing the national anthem with pride in my heart and not be slain for it.
I see beauty in almost everything around me in this country and never take for granted one single day how blessed we are as a country when so many others have nothing.
Yes.. we have ugliness in America.. it's the land of the free.. not the perfect... but there are still plenty of people willing to make it better.
I love that I can come and go as I please with no reprisal or fear of imprisonment for stating my opinion(boy, I would be in trouble on that one in any other country)

I love that if you try and work at it you can attain anything .. from knowledge to material possessions to a higher spirituality WITHOUT someone keeping you from doing so.. that people actually give a damn about their neighbors and strangers in times of crisis.. the beauty of the wilderness... the hubub of the city ... the tranquility to be found on a warm summers night oh and the men ... yep the men  aint no other country has them cowboys in tight jeans that look so yummy or the bikers in their leather that give off raw animalism or the lawyers in their nice suits reeking of sexiness or the surfers on their boards all tanned or the mountain guys all rugged n chit *sigh* okay shower time
and one of the main things i LOVE about this country?? that we CARE what happens to our kids MOST of us strive to better their lives .. they are not made to slave away their precious beings .. they are not made to submit to horrible acts of perversion etc.. we try to protect them and with that we try to save the rest of the world from the same atrocities .. yet even tho we are bad mouthed by the same people we feed and help we continue to do so because we are AMERICA the greatest land on the planet GOD BLESS AMERICA!~!
