I recieved this from one of my daughters best friends on myspace in the bulletins there. If a 15 y/o can grasp the concept...why can't some adults?

Dear God:

Why didn't you save the school children at ?.

Reply:

Dear Concerned Student:

I am not allowed in schools.

Sincerely,

God

----------------------------------------------------------

How did this get started?...

-----------------

Let's see,
I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained
she didn't want any prayer in our schools.

And we said, OK..

------------------

Then,
someone said you better not read the Bible in school,
the Bible that says
"thou shalt not kill,
thou shalt not steal,
and love your neighbors as yourself,"

And we said, OK...

-----------------

Dr. Benjamin Spock said
we shouldn't spank our children
when they misbehaved
because their little personalities
would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem.

And we said,
an expert should know what he's talking about
so we won't spank them anymore..

------------------

Then someone said
teachers and principals better not
discipline our children when they misbehave.
And the school administrators said
no faculty member in this school
better touch a student when they misbehave
because we don't want any bad publicity,
and we surely don't want to be sued.

And we accepted their reasoning...

------------------

Then someone said,
let's let our daughters have abortions if they want,
and they won't even have to tell their parents.

And we said, that's a grand idea...

------------------

Then some wise school board member said,
since boys will be boys
and they're going to do it anyway,
let's give our sons all the condoms they want,
so they can have all the fun they desire,
and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school.

And we said, that's another great idea...

------------------

Then some of our top elected officials said
it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs.

And we said,
it doesn't matter what anybody,
including the President,
does in private as long as we have jobs and the economy is good....

------------------

And someone else took that appreciation a step further
and published pictures of nude children
and then stepped further still by
making them available on the Internet.

And we said, everyone's entitled to free speech....

------------------

And the entertainment industry said,
let's make TV shows and movies that promote
profanity, violence and illicit sex...
And let's record music that encourages
rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes...

And we said,
it's just entertainment
and it has no adverse effect
and nobody takes it seriously anyway,
so go right ahead.

------------------

Now we're asking ourselves
why our children have no conscience,
why they don't know right from wrong,
and why it doesn't bother them to
kill strangers, classmates or even themselves.

------------------

Undoubtedly,
if we thought about it long and hard enough,
we could figure it out.
I'm sure it has a great deal to do with...

"WE REAP WHAT WE SOW,"

------------------

Pass it on
if you think it has merit!
If not then just discard it...
but if you discard this thought process,
then don't you dare sit back and complain about
what bad shape this country is in

That is why our nation is slipping into the toilet and other developing nations will be catching up to us.

It's that "liberal" thought that is failing our nation.... no diciplining, no correcting behavior, etc..... The young mind brewing pot is a toilet.
"The no child left behind plan" will lower our standards even futher, and permit students which don't deserve to advance into the next grade to do so on a free ticket to ride. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Is this all a setup so that one day "a political hero " will step forward and say: We did it all wrong, our goal as a nation is to look at the nation of _______ to give us a good example of how we should be educating our young people?

To me those types of political actions are humiliating.

One problem is the baby boomers wanted to give 'their' children a 'better' life but it was those things that made their life supposedly worse that gave them character. For instance some people said that they never got to have things/possessions so they wanted their kids to have them but those possessions just made the kids spoiled and gave them no work ethic. I didn't even have a TV in my room till I was 17 and then it was a black and white! What 12 year old now days doesn't have a color TV with cable, a computer, cd player etc and they don't even appreciate them.....

I've been saying this for years now. There is a reason why the Bible says to not spare the rod when it comes to disciplining children. It doesn't mean take away their XBox for 30 minutes...or telling them Now now, you really shouldn't do that as they're flipping you the bird and telling you go F yourself. Discipline is NEEDED and needs to be started at a early age. Children are born with the concept...I want it and I want it NOW. If they are allowed to throw temper tantrums at a early age, it just proves to them that it is acceptable behavior. Dr. Benjamin Spock should have been taken out and horse whipped and showed a little discipline himself. His theory has much to do both directly and indirectly with the problems with kids today.

I totally agree with you striving.
My 12 y/o is having troubles this yr with his grades, and his homework. Which is no wonder, with all he's been through this past yr. He was held back in 1st grade, and recently, I've talked to his principal and she "doesn't want to hold him back in 6 th grade". With him missing school from his meds he's on,( for the post traumatic stress he's suffering from) he's gotten wayyyyyyyy behind. He doesn't understand much of what's going on in school. I've asked for tutoring, afterschool programs, NOTHING. No funding, they say. So lets just send him through high school, and he can barely read??? I can't even MAKE them hold him back....which is bullsh!t in my book.

This is exactly why I am pushing for my son to be in private school next year. He went to visit last week and the first thing out of his mouth was how he liked having God at school with him. It makes a difference in mindset I think. My son is one that fell through the cracks of "no child left behind". They tell me he's too smart in one subject to qualify for help in the subject he's struggled in for 3 years.

Ponie.. I am so sorry that your son is struggling so. dealing with PTSD is crippling.. I was one of the lucky ones to find a medication that worked so well.. but they do tend to put you in a foggy place. Is summer school an option for him?.. maybe the guidance councellor can hook him up with an older student to be sort of a mentor. Sounds like he needs a buddy right now to help him sort through his grief and be a sounding board. Are you familiar with Big Brother/ Big Sister organization? Is that available in your area?.. I imagine he feels like he can't come to you with his anger and pain seeing that you are going thru the same thing yourself.. he probably doesn't want to burden you with his emotions.. an outside source would be ideal for him.
Good luck Ponie.. I will keep you and your son in my prayers

i think it started when "they" said "how much do we get paid for each kid?" its not about Madaline or Oral Roberts or Jerry Falwell. its about the moms and dads who decide who teach their children. check out the PTA, check out the coaches and tutors who replace you. the point is, my daughter won't wear Abercrombie and Fitch (unless its one of my own LOL) therefore she will become wise before her time and therefore have a very hard time finding a fella she can endure. we be jammin

By posting this, I wanted to point out that a 15 y/o child can post things like this, AND feel good about doing so.
She could have deleted, but she didn't, she passed it on....

I didn't know it was in the Religion Thread until I'd went in there AFTER I'd posted, and read the threads.
I also think the reactions are different because this IS general topic, and NOT religion.

Daisy....thanks so much hon!
I just returned from the school, and he was tested for special education 3 wks ago, and I'd missed his IEP meeting that they'd had for him Monday, because I was on a flight home from TN.
He is going to get the help he needs now...THANK GOD!
He'll be in a special education class for his Emotional disorder for right now, getting the "special help" he needs from teachers with his homework.
Too bad it doesn't start until next fall when he enters the 7th grade.
He does have a couple "big brothers", and they'd move the stars in the sky for him, if they could. He just left to hang out w/ one of them.

Thanks so much for your prayers,
Much love,
Jini
