I went to Food Lion last night, and happened to pass the milk section. For ONE GALLON of whole milk, the price was FIVE BUCKS!!! Fortunately, I drink 2%, and that's cheaper, but NOT BY MUCH! 
I know why it's getting so expensive, though I think the reason is bullshit.
Anyhoo....

I row the boat to the other end of the lake, crawl a quarter mile through the swamp on my belly, sneak into a barn and lay under the cow and nurse.
It's a lot of work but it's free.

I drink rice milk and it is about 3 dollars a half gallon.
Much better for you than any animal milk after you get to a certain point in your physical growth.

According to my Super Walmart receipt dated 05/06/07, my gallon of fat free milk was only $1.99! It was on sale from $2.93.

Blame it on Ethanol. Cows eat corn and the price of corn has almost doubled over the last two years. Higher corn prices = higher milk prices. It is only going to go higher.

I try not to drink milk, haven't bought any in nearly a year. I drink water (I don't pay for water here) or caffeine free diet pepsi.

A gallon of 2% was $3.80 here in No. CA yesterday.. unleaded gas is still cheaper but not for long I fear.

I absolutely LOVE milk! I WAS drinking almost 3 gallons of 2% a week, but now since it's so damned expensive, It's a little over a gallon a week. 
P.S. As far as I know, I've never had a broken bone!

if I get milk at walgreens its runs about 2.50 to 3.00, at wal-mart or other grocers it runs about 3.25 to 3.50

I never had a broken bone till 2000, when I was 49. Then I really broke a good one--my hip! I do have milk occasionally when I get the urge for cereal for supper. But not often. Milk doesn't sit well on my stomach--I know I know, don't put the jug on my stomach, pour it in a glass!! Dang!

I NEVER drink milk from a glass any more. I just tip the jug up, and chug the milk like a water cooler! In FACT, I just ate a bunch of pumpkin seeds, and am getting ready to wash them down with a good chug!!
