Some time ago, two of the networks in some major markets began broadcasting a show called, "Good News". The concept was created to 'offset' the onslaught of murder and mayhem that was, and is the very foundation of our news media. In essence, there was a push to try to create some balance between the never-ending stream of bad, depressing, saddening news that seems to be the norm these days. As you might imagine, very few of these programs lasted, and the few that are still on the air have been relegated to those cherry time slots in the wee hours of the morning nestled between the Popeil Pocket Fisherman and Ginsu Knife infomercials. More than anything, I believe that this is due to the fact that people, in general, are 'drawn' more to bad news than the good, warm fuzzy stuff. And my experience has been that in the day-to-day, one hears more about the bad and not nearly enough about the good. So I thought this might be a good place to hear about the positive things that people have done.
So my question; What is the nicest or most positive or 'bestest' thing you've ever done for someone who was not a family member? C'mon, don't be modest... share!

I think a lot of not hearing about it may have something to do with Modesty. I for one, don't like to toot my own horn much. I also get embarrassed when someone does it for me. I don't do good things for people to be noticed, I do it because I care, and want to share what I can with others.

I adopted a baby opossom, spent hours and hours feeding it...cuddling, teaching it the ways of the world, waking up in the early hours to feed it....didn't stop until my right nipple fell off.

I support a child in Indonesia at the moment. Before this it was one in Korea but his family became self sufficient so they gave me the option of getting out or transferring to another child. I feel that God has blessed me very much even if I am not rich and I know I should help people. So I help these little children who are born into poverty and live in not so good conditions. Of course I look for people to help around me but they don't come along that often so I thought I should do more. I hope to expand on this as time goes on.
