I am not a doom and gloom sort of guy.
However.....I do believe there are parts of this country that will be suffering more than other parts when the chit hits the fan, and I am just wondering if you have given it much thought. You know....about the chit hittin' the fan.....it's coming ya know.
Here is what I mean.....
It's called panic.
This society of ours is delicately balanced...precarious at best, on the supply of gas...we could of course just say oil, but I want to use "gasoline" or " fuel" for this experiment. Keeping it simple.
If the supply of fuel was to be interrupted in almost any way, things would start to happen. I mean think about it.
A couple months ago, a huge plot to destroy supplies, flow lines and pipelines, and refining capabilities was uncovered in the nick of time in Saudi Arabia. Not only was destruction planed in great detail, but so was murder of top ranking officials. Think about what that alone would have done to the price of fuel. Just look at what the threat of a storm in our own gulf does....just a threat raises the price. It is all so fragile. Not to mention a real storm.....
Now lets say, at some point, Iran manages to get the big one....Israel decides they can't wait....or maybe....terrorist are successful in getting to a couple of refineries, or they do a dirty bomb Lord forbid.....
All these things are meant as examples....choose one of your own description....they are not the point. The point is...fuel runs everything. It is almost totally responsible for what you eat everyday. Trucks, ships, planes, trains, tractors....whatever....what if all of a sudden, the price of fuel goes above 10 bucks a gallon? 15 bucks a gallon? Do you really think this is that far fetched? Taking into account just how volatile everything is around the world.....all it is gonna take is one well placed attack.
Then what? You say....
Well....If a trucker has to try to pay 12 dollars a gallon for fuel in order to start his truck, how will that trickle down? Yep.....us....we will have to pay the price....for everything we use....everything we eat....so on....
I can see where a well placed attack on fuel production, anywhere as long as it stops the flow....could undo society as we know it, and in a matter of days.
As soon as we realize, we still have mouths to feed. Regardless of the price....no matter what....our babies, and our selves....we all have to eat....drink....and survive.
The reason I say some parts of the country will suffer harder than others....well....Just look at the number of people in your area. Grocery store shelves basically carry an average of 1.5 hours of supplies and food during a real panic depending on a few factors. There are no back storage rooms anymore.
Panic will set in rather quickly I suspect...as soon as a Father realizes he is responsible for his child's life....or as soon as a Mother realizes Safeway isn't an option anymore. Where to get the bare necessities? Your own storage? that would be good....but what if you are one of the millions who decided it wasn't really ever gonna happen? Now that's the question I am trying to get to....what if you have plenty for your family, but the guy down the street with 5 kids has nothing? Except a gun?
So.....will you be ready? Wait...better still....
Are you ready? Chances are better than you think....something is coming....and it ain't good.
Pretty happy questions huh?
Wyoming starting to look pretty good to ya?
I thought it might. Hey ladies...I have a big empty hom ...e ......oh ahh.... ...nevermind.....you won't like Wyoming......there is no one here. And it's cold, windy, dry, miserable crappy ......yeah....nevermind.. You would hate it. All of you. You would hate it. Just forget I mentioned it.
Downtown New York City is lovely this time of year I hear.....
Actually...it is....but I guess I am glad I am here, where if I want fish for dinner...., I'll walk over to the river and catch one.....or two.
Anyway...it's just a thought...not much of one...but it is all could come up with for now. It's been on my mind a lot lately. Because it just seems so ready to blow......
Tunes Oh yeah...have a nice weekend. Buy a little extra food. Buy water. Be ready. Don't wait. And remember...an armed society is a polite society.
Whatta ya say America?

What if someone falls asleep on a two lane road, at the exact time the two of you are passing each other.........You can take a few precautions, but in the end, just live life day by day....And ah,,,,,,,,,,,, maybe by a horse, or a bike.

Now lets say, at some point, Iran manages to get the big one....Israel decides they can't wait....or maybe....terrorist are successful in getting to a couple of refineries, or they do a dirty bomb Lord forbid Let's suppose Iran gets a nuke and wants to use it for maximum effect. Do they target Israel? US forces in Iraq? No, the most effective use of that nuke would be to target "oil city" in Saudi Arabia. It would have an immediate world wide impact, much more than blowing up Tel Aviv or killing a few thousand US troops, both of which would bring nuclear retaliation to Iran.

You do make a good point Tunes. (BTW, glad to see you back)
It amazes me, how many people only have enough food in their house to last a week, if that! My son, says often that theres nothing to eat here. Well duh, if you would cook something you could eat! That boy is gonna starve when he gets out on his own in another year or so. He thinks since he knows how to make a grilled cheese and cook an egg, he will be fine! HA!
Spoiled thats what we are. IF, anything like this should happen, there will be lots of starving people, just the loss of electricity would cripple many.
When I lived in FL my family made fun of me, when I stockpiled water and other supplies when there was a hurricane warning. They wouldn't have laughed if we would have been hit, then I wouldn't have been crazy, I would have been a hero.

Wyoming starting to look pretty good to ya? Wyoming has always looked pretty-I love Yellowstone! But move there? Live there? Hmmm...no, if society breaks down so much that Milwaukee ceases to exist as it is now-I don't want to live anyway.

Ummm...heh heh.....Hi Wanda....good morning....
* * clears throat**
Had a fairly ...umm....quiet night last night.
* Ahem* **clears throat.....again.....**
I see "he" was here again last night!
What did I tell you about encouraging him ???
Anyway...I am sorry ....ah.......for my evil twin's wild and crazy rantings and ravings.
I mean...he can't marry you.....he doesn't even have a job.
I would keep my distance if I were you and wanted to keep my reputation healthy. But I guess I can't tell you what you should do....
As for him....
I'm gonna change the locks on the shop. Don't care if he's my brother. He went too far this time.
Anyway...I am glad you are alright.....he didn't call you did he?
