Ah, but from OUR experience, just replace the word 'women' with 'men'. Let's face it, if any of us were finding what we've been looking for, we wouldn't still be looking..
But then, I'm not, at least so far. I don't even begin to claim 'we won't get fooled again', cuz I know full well that I'm as gullible as the next when it comes to believing what I want to believe.
Meanwhile, no, I'm not answering messages; my profile declares the reason for that.
I don't claim to be down to earth, but I do dig around in my garden.
Shy at first?  I frequently greet people with a hug when we first meet - I used to be shy, until I started thinking about how to make other people feel comfortable. No more shyness.
Fun? Depends on what you're looking for, but I never mastered the yoyo. I do have a timeshare that can be used in numerous places around the world, a pool and a pool table.
Games? I double dog dare you to Scrabble or Trivial Pursuit.
Duplicity? My memory's good, but I don't want to tax it too much with what stories I've told to whom. I like simplicity, and that's the truth. Mentally challenged? Maybe so, I know my son is. Something wrong with that?????

OK, I was just trying to be funny, But no, I'm no game player. I'm disturbingly up front to some men, but those who can deal with honesty have become friends, if there was nothing else there. I don't think they consider it a bad consolation prize either - I think I really CAN be fun to be with, unless there are a lot of masochists surrounding me. Meanwhile though, I don't feel the need to tell my guy that I have over 100 unread messages on various sites...just in case I've been fooled again. And by the way, I don't necessarily mean it's deliberate on his part - we both might be fooling ourselves that we're more 'right' for each other than we really are. Meanwhile we're both 'victims' of some fabulous chemistry and we're enjoying it while we can!
And going back to the mentally challenged comment, I think we're all seeking someone at pretty much the same intellectual level we're at, and I still hope someday my son can find someone for him too (that's where I was going with my comment). Even the mentally challenged feel the same needs that an intellectual giant would.

No, it means that women are traditionalists and don't initiate messaing.
They talk a big story about being equal, but really that's all it is. And I'm not trying to start a flame war here, either.

OK, once again there are exceptions to the rules...I was the initiator in my current relationship. And that was despite the fact that I'm eight years older than his upper age limit.
We're not all traditionalists, honest! And I don't even BEGIN to consider this a flame war - hey, I hang out in the politics and religious forums.
