Safe to use?

I've had a plastic Pepsi bottle sitting on top of my fridge for several months. It had a VERY tiny amount of soda left in it. The top has been screwed on it as well. I just soaked it in very hot water, with antibacterial dishwashing liquid. I want to use it Sunday as a water bottle. Do you think that, since I thoroughly washed it, it will be safe to use?

I think it would be safe. If you washed it good then I don't know why it wouln't be
safe.

If you still have any doubts-I usually sanitize my dishes by putting a Tablespoon or so of bleach in the rinse bin-should kill most of what might be on there.

the bleach trick is one I've read about for storing tap water... add bleach to a gallon of water to store it long term in a sealed bottle.... ( I don't recall the safe amount)

Yeah but I still don't need the sugar. The sugar is my main concern. I will do
caffeine free again. I hate those stupid headaches too. I'm a wuss!
Thanks stormy!

Its a plastic bottle so why even take a chance and worry about something like this.
Buy a water bottle that will keep your water cold.

Do you guys keep getting the warning emails about re-using plastic bottles? I automatically insert the Snopes link...yep, we'd all be dead if we weren't all getting those emails!

The bleach idea might be good, but I don't know what the safe amount is either.

Hey stormy those dollar stores might have bottles that you can get for storing water. Just a thought.

Hope you are having a great weekend!!!

Once it's been opened, it can get moldy-it takes a LOT longer to do than milk, for example, but it does happen.

I think that you are supposed to put 3-4 drops of eye drops - tetrahydrozaline
(cleareyes, clearasil, etc...) into every litre of water to neutralize bacteria before you drink it.
It will naturally cleanse itself after a few times.

Sorry...wait...
Okay...lol...I don't think it is safe to use...although leak proof, plastic is porous. I don't think you will get all the wee beastie bacteria out of there.
