If you want to tell a story, share a joke or inspiraitional message you've received, it seems to me that you're in blog territory.
If you want to discuss things, or ask for feedback on a question, seems the forum would be a better place...
What say you guys?

I've been blogging more lately cos the forums seem more like a "community"...a lot of the posts seem to reflect that, I guess.
I guess the blogs are more of a controlled environment, I suppose I prefer that.

I think I agree with Heaven 100%.
And yes, when I post a blog, i would like feedback, but I like the forums for discussion!

Not some of the stuff I've seen there. Sometimes they can get worse than we forum people!

Hmmmm....what kind of 'bad' are we talking about here? The good bad or the bad bad?
I think they're each their own little community, or it seems that way. You see the same people posting blogs and commenting on each others' blogs, just as we have our 'frequent posters' here in the forums, and some people live in both places. I'm hoping some of the bloggers will jump in here too - it would make life easier for the mods, and I'm hoping that if they try it, they might even like it...

I try to think of the blog as a public diary....while I enjoy getting comments - that lets me know someone is reading and enjoying them, I don't want to get into discussions about what I wrote (in public). IF someone really wants to discuss my blog, I hope they will email me and let it flow from there.
The forums I am most used to having been active in motorcycling forums for 5 years and AOL forums for years before that. The forums, for me, work very well for controversial topics, fun & games, question & answers, etc.
Sometimes there is a fine line....and even the best blog can end up in a discussion. TO me the OP should move it to the forums at that point.
But hey, what do I know....I'm just a

I have never blogged, I agree that blogs are basically like public diaries and the world does not need to know what I am thinking, feeling, who hurt my feelings, or upset me ect. In my opinion blogging seem kind of like attention seeking behavior? At least the majority of the ones ive seen are poor poor me blogs.

Blogs are a good place to tell stories, to share thoughts or opinions about things in a more considered length that might otherwise take up too much space as a forum reply. It's not now and I don't believe was ever intended simply as a place to air one's dirty laundry. Though some, of course, do take great delight in doing just that.
Blogs that are just questions DO belong in the forums, but without strict enforcement you end up with some pretty awe-inspiring trainwrecks. Kinda amusing to see the way people self-destruct there and then watch their blogs go "poof!" when the Mods finally pull the chain and flush 'em. I've even watched the Mods flush a contentious blog and then pull the OP's next blog lying about how they decided to take down their blog. Hilarious.
Just like the forums, Blogland is another interesting place to observe human behavior. Especially because the blogger can control what comments get posted in public. You get to see a whole 'nother side of some...often a side better left under that rock.

I disagree with the option to accept/reject certain comments left on blogs...If it is a public blog everything should be published...IMO. The whole point of blogs if for people to comment right? Or maybe im wrong....

It's a personal choice. That's one of the differencs between blogs and forums. A blog is one's personal online diary (if you want to call it that) and therefore the blooger has a choice whether to accept comments or not. Sometimes someone just wants to write a thought without allowing comments at all..and that's their right to do so.
I personally accept all comments here on MD. However, on another site I have to see the comment to approve it, because spammers get into your profile that way.

I can count on one hand the blogs I have read. I prefer the forums, sometimes I am very serious, and sometimes I just let my sense of humor go wild. I have thought of starting a blog, but to be honest, I never sit down to intentionally write anything of substance, it just comes to me, and I keep writing to best get my point across, well just like this........
