... and while all the thoughts for this woman are truly heart-warming(And I offer my own well-wishes here! ), it stuns me how so many of the well-wishers take their OWN life for granted! They post their good wishes, then sit back and light a cigarette, perhaps get drunk then get behind the wheel, maybe do drugs, or something equally damaging to their bodies. Just a mystery that I guess we'll never be able to solve.

I have always lived life on the edge, I never understood the folks who buy furniture and cover it with plastic, or leave the plastic wrapper on the lampshades, or even put down carpet runners on the floor........So what if it lasts longer, THEY NEVER USED OR ENJOYED IT. I personally have no intention of dying of old age sitting in an old folks home, not in control of all my faculties.
Death does not scare me, being unable to fully enjoy it does. and that is the risk I'm willing to take.

and do you know for sure that said posters take their lives for granted?.. I don't take mine for granted.. I'm pretty certain that these other folks feel the same as I do.. when you've met these people and really gotten to know them, then you can judge them by the standards you live by...

I competely agree with Blueyes
For exemple my mother is the typical woman who buys a coach and covers it. I'm the opposite.....maybe for reaction .....but I think that we live once and we must live as well as possible, without barriers and with respect of ourselves, of the other and of life in general.
Another simple exemple how many people don't use the best things they have ! we always think "tomorrow, next week I'll do" ...... no no.....tomorrow is important....but today is important either.

I don't believe in a risk free society, that trades the joy of living for the safety of existence

Stormy- this thread had decent meaning, and I truly meant what I said. And I know I don't do EVERYTHING to live a perfect life, but even if I did, a plane could fall on my house, or a tornado could rip through town...We just be the best we can be, screw up once in awhile, learn from (most of) it and try to become better people in our learning.

Hey Loreli... Actually, I was referring to things we DO have control over! Now... I want y'all to know that I'm talking from a "soapbox"! At this very moment, I'm eating greasy french fries, and partaking of some lovely roast beef "sammitches"! What it all boils down to is that we ALL are - basically - SCREWED, no matter WHAT we do(See my thread on men taking multivitamins!) Why speed up the process?

I don't think we are all screwed though. Some will have hard times and live a more cleansed life than others. It isn't fair, because we have no "one" thing to rely on.
Even eating greasy yuck food, you could outlive a vegetarian...who knows?

Yes, we are all going to die but dying doesn't necessarily mean death, depending on one's belief system or the Truth of whatever lies behind the thin veil between this plain and the next.
Because we are all going to die one day does not necessarily mean we're "screwed", because what may lie beyond all of this IMO is only a deeper connection with the Sacred, a deeper connection with LOVE.
Why do we sometimes "screw" ourselves by making the process of "death" come sooner? Only each individual can answer that for him/herself. I think if we screw ourselves by not taking care of ourselves it's often out of a fear based response to something within.
Anyway, cheers to life We are alive!

Hi Angel excellent post.........
For me, I think some people are so afraid to die or get hurt, they end up being afraid to live. To me it's like trying to make a Popsicle last forever, if you take a lick and put back to refreeze, it is never the same, gobbling it up so fast you can't remember what it tastes like isn't smart either, I prefer to just plain eat it. Yeah, not good for you, too much sugar ect.....I don't care, it tastes good, and in moderation, let the chips fall where they may. I love to live life, and enjoy as much of it as I can, and if my day comes early, I will have regrets, but they all have wonderful memories attached them.

someone was describing how a Utopia worked, everyone was well fed, cared for, no worries... and I believe it was Mark Twain who replied, "This Utopia sounds like a herd of sheep, after the last wolf was killed... No challenges..."
