Ok everyone...I have laid to rest the "Spring has Sprung" thread....and now time to open up the "Hot Town.....Summer in the City" thread!!

What do you love about summer? What will you do this summer that you didn't do last summer?

Whatever it is.......summer romance, weather, BBQ's, working on your tan, new diet, or your latest summer project......WE wanna know all about it!!

So feel the rays, and get into the waves and tell us What's going on this summer......

Summer in the City
Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city

All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head

But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright

And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city

Cool town, evening in the city
Dressing so fine and looking so pretty
Cool cat, looking for a kitty
Gonna look in every corner of the city
Till I'm wheezing like a bus stop
Running up the stairs, gonna meet you on the rooftop

But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright

And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city

Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city

All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head

But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright

And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city

Ahem, you're talking to a denizen of the desert here. High today was 102, this weekend it's expected to go to 107. Of course I'll be on the other coast, complaining that the water's too cold to swim (the pool temp is 82 degrees right now).

What do I love about summer, here in Phoenix? Skinny dipping at midnight!

I do not care for cold so heat is awesome for me. I love where I live because it is warmer. Not as warm as yours, Heaven! But it is nice. Yards get lush in the summer. Vegetables grow, fruit trees make fruit. Play in the water, play outside, camping, fishing, crystal digging. I even like mowing the grass if it isn't too hot.
I also like to sweat. It is cleansing the body.

Spring-
It always depends on skin type. I have always been an outdoor person, so it doesn't take much to get in the groove! For lighter complexions, start with a sunscreen and half hour outside each time. When you get a base, you can go to a lesser spf, then spend more time out there.
Sun is good if not overused! Go out for half hour, come in for half.
They say the sun is strongest from 10-2, so maybe starting later would be a good way!

Lori!

That's what I do! Last summer I had the prettiest natural tan...with no burn.

It's the burn that is dangerous...not the tan.

If thats true Spirit, I must have a really cleansed body!

Ice water in a spray bottle for me!

As for plans, I am still buying and planting flowers. Not going to bother with tomatoes this year... The neighbor has some already on his vines about the size of a golf ball... Heheee... one might "fall" off as I am passing by on the mower.

I am STILL trying to loose weight Spring... I haven't been able to get all the stuff for the soup yet.

I do have a couple projects I want to do this summer. I want to build a corner fence in my back yard and fix the steps so my little dog doesn't get tangled up, and of course more organizing.

I am also hoping the camping trip in MI isn't the ONLY one I go on. I didn't camp at all last year... Have a lot to make up for!

LOTS OF TIME ON MD WITH MY FRIENDS!

No big plans for this summer. I want to clean out the house and have a big yard sale in July. I hope to spend some time at the pool. Have not heard if water aerobics is on or not. I sure hope so. It's one of the things I really look forward to. And of course, since I have a b/f this summer, there will be some dates!

I love where I live too! Summer can be very hot, that is when we get on mass transit and Go to San Francisco!

Never gets down to freezing either. How I remember going to work in 20 below weather! Oh and getting out at the coldest part too, 4am.
No,,,no,,,

What do I like about summer? Not much. If it never went to above 83 degrees I'd be pleased.
I suspect I'll be taking up gardening in my new house. I'm not planning on any outdoor work until next summer. I plan on sealing my deck and planting a perennial garden in the side and front yards and lilacs in the back yard!

Di....lilacs will really give off a nice aroma when you are sitting outside!

Luv, I know the soup and everything on that diet is a little bit much, but I did do it last week and lost 10 pounds! I liked it really well....and am not doing it this week, but hope to resume for another week starting next Monday....I felt really good too!

Thanks Loreli for the sun advice! I am bound and determined to tan this year....as I am pale and usually use the instant tan lotion..
I might even do some short times at the tanning bed...just don't want to overdue it..or get burnt... eventually I will be a nice golden bronze....yeahhhhh

Good luck on the water ski lessons Princess! I learned to water ski when I was 12 yrs old, but have to admit I haven't done it since a teenager.... I'm sure I could pick it up again...maybe????? It is great exercise and there is something freeing about zipping across the water......

Tanning? I used to burn terribly.... and now on Zocor, I burn faster... 10 minutes in the sun and I'm burnt... even with heavy sunscreen,...

Summer? heck its still spring until the 22 of June, we still get freeze warnings until the middle of June, heck the first week of June is still possible snow season.....
