OK then.
Monday.
I will decline offers of pizza & cookies & various snacks that seem to make their way into meetings & into my office.
I will walk the dog after work.

Starting today.

Later today.
Too early for exercise.
It's 5:30AM.

Having a willing partner to "work" any excess calories off is even better, Jen.

Well, yes, Mo ... Now that you mention it, maybe 5:30AM wouldn't be too early for SOME type of exercise.
Or 8:30AM
Or noon.
Or 4:30PM

Or all night long.

I wonder how many calories are burned while endulging in fantasies?

Sounds like the perfect schedule.

I wonder how many calories are burned while endulging in fantasies?

Not sure, but it's gotta be significant.

OK, seriously now....
On Topic.

I am having breakfast at my desk.
Coffee, black ... zero calories? But also, zero nutrition. Shoulda had a V8.
Banana nut muffin (had my mind on bananas & nuts ... heh heh ... No! Jennifer! Stop it! Bad Jennifer!)
OK, banana nut muffin from the vending machine: OMG! 460 calories??!!
1.5 grams saturated fat. crap.
ZERO trans fat.

I NEEDED something. I was feeling light-headed & weak & hypoglycemic.

I think it may help me if I actually write down EVERYTHING I eat all day. So, here I begin.

Nice choices, Jen....gotta have the chocolate, of course

My food itinerary for today.....

Breakfast: Small bowl of Special K Chocolatey Delight followed by a half cup of instant coffee/Nestle Fat Free 25-Calorie Hot Cocoa Mix/sprinkled with mini-marshmellows (altogether probably about 350 calories). One multi-vitamin tablet.

Lunch Lean Cuisine Chicken Chow Mein (210 Calories)

Projected Dinner: Omelette consisting of scrambled Egg Beaters with assorted veggies from my frozen Jimmy Dean "Breakfast Skillet" Bag and Morningstar soy "hamburger" crumbs. (400 - 500 calories, depending on how much ingredients I use and size of portion).

Dessert: Brownie from a batch I made yesterday, ingredients fat-free brownie mix and pure pumpkin. Not sure of the calories, but it's gotta be less than regular brownies.

Exercise: Planning to burn 400 - 500 calories on my exercise bike (translates to about 70 minutes on medium resistance) and about 20 weight training minutes of upper body barbell lifts. I've already walked 30 minutes this morning at work, which usually burns up about 70 - 90 calories. Two tablets of Saw Palmetto and one big tablet of Flaxseed oil.

...oh, and I drink either water or decaffeinated instant tea with sugar substitute, so no calories to speak of there.

Mo, that is a cool site you shared with us. THANK YOU!

I am going grocery shopping as soon as my son gets home. HEY, riding the moped burns more calories then driving a car... have to put your feet down every time you stop!

I know I have been bad today. I had 2 slices of bread with I Can't Believe Its Not Butter LITE. I plan to get the stuff to make the cabbage soup Spring sent me the recipe for.

Thank you, Luvs.

...oh, and two slices of bread is NOT being bad. Eating a whole Papa John's pizza or half a Saunders chocolate bumpy layer cake (which in moments of weakness, I'm afraid to admit, I've done) is BAD!!...lol.

It all just tastes so dang good, though!

I skip the breakfast and lunch routine. That way I don't have to do anything to burn off those 500 extra calories.

I used to HATE working out be it running or jogging or lifting weights ect. I have gotten into such a habit of running or going for a walk at least once a day that i find it very hard to go to sleep if i dont. I dont view exercising as a chore anymore, i enjoy doing it and it helps release a lot of stress. Walking in my opinion is the best way for someone to get started. Most people can do this, its great to just grab a girlfriend and chit chat while youre walking, or instead of just letting the dog out...take him for a walk great for both. I also think that trying to either lose weight or strengthen or just stay fit you gain tons of self confidence which helps you out in ALL aspects of your life.

I think one thing that gets people caught up is that they are only doing one part of the process. They either are eating VERY well but not exercising or are exercising but not eating well. I think it is important to figure out caloric values of foods...youd be surprised!http://www.calorie-count.com/ is a really good website, it is free you can log your progress and also has other discussion forums with other who are also trying. Very helpful!

You're so right, Princess. If I miss two days in a row of exercise I feel I weigh 400 pds. And you're smart for starting a good food/exercise regimen so young. It should carry you right into the years where your metabolism slows down and weight seems to appear out of nowhere...lol.

Good site about calories. I try to "estimate" the calories I take in every day, but never obsess over them. As long as I'm within a certain range, and work "most" of the excess off, I'm happy. People can go crazy counting calories and have it consume their lives, so I tell them to avoid the stress and just be practical about it.

I used to eat like chit and then always yoyo'd when i was younger but could get away with eating most things...until i had my son! I didnt gain through my pregnancy, i gained after...and it scared me because a lot of my family is heavy so i decided that i was not going to let that over take me. I used to keep a journal of all of my food intake and the caloric values of each thing so i knew exactly what i was putting in my mouth and also the type of exercise i did that day. a good site for figuring out what exercise burns how many calories thats based off your weight is on http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/HealthyLiving/at the bottom of the page. Kind of cool and it gives you an idea of where you are. 3500 calories burned is one pound lost....

Now it is just habit for me to eat well and exercise which I think is different from fad diets to lose 40lbs in the first month....

My trainer says the reason I am not burning fat better is because when I don't eat, my body thinks I am in a famine and stores fat.
For breakfast:
coffee (I am so not telling you what I put in it either), protein shake with one egg, half a frozen banana, one and a half scoops whey unflavored/unsweetened protein, milk.
Lunch:
baked potato with seasoned goat yogurt( garlic and onion dehydrated, herbs, pepper, no salt or butter) with bits of steak sprinkled in the potato. I am hungry now so will go look for a decent meal. bbl.
Love this thread! I really did need it!

Breakfast - 1 banana.

Lunch - the special of the day - herbed pork tenderloin, potato and tomato stew (tastes better than it sounds) and roasted veggies. I did ask them to go light on the potatoes and heavier on the broccoli though, and only one slice of pork.

Worked out at the gym, and actually broke my records for both lat pulldowns and chest presses. Wobbled into the supermarket to pick up some mango juice, which I'm indulging in now...the only caloric beverage I've had today. Dinner's still up for grabs, to be good and make bacon cheeseburgers for everybody else, and a repeat of the black bean chipotle soyburger for me, or just give in and have what everybody else is having....I know, I'll let them fend for themselves and behave myself (but I will indulge in some potato - Mo's weakness is chocolate, mine is definitely the potato!)

Potato isn't so bad. It is what you do to it that makes it caloric. But it depends on the blood type too, I think.
I started some supper that is orange bell pepper, onion and ground turkey seasoned with dehydrated garlic, herbs and onion sauteed in olive oil. I may make some brown rice to go with it.

Oh, and worked shoulders on the bowflex earlier.
