What is your blood type? Look to see what grains are not as fattening for you, Pali, then find it somewhere in a pasta form. Spelt is not fattening for me.

I have never heard of spelt. Blood type is A-, but I know carbs of most any kind are not my friends. But I love them soooo much!

Well, wheat sucks for A, any A unless you balance out the acid forming wheat with alkaline foods. Acidity is the problem with A. And I am talking muscle tissue not stomach acid. A is vegetarian mostly. Chicken is your best meat. Stay away from red meats. Amaranth and buckwheat are excellent for you. Lots of neutral grains for you but eat WHOLE grain not processed.
Barley, cornmeal, Kamut, millet (puffed), oatbran, oatmeal, rice (puffed), rice bran and spelt are all neutral which means no weight gain unless you over do it.
Whole sprouted breads will work for you better. Fruits or certain types will balance the acidity of wheat and grain.

Pali, on that Hungry Girl web site I supplied from Page 1 or 2(?), they rave about a tofu pasta they say tastes scrumptious, but is super healthy for ya. I haven't eaten any yet so can't give you my input, but I'm thinking of maybe buying some online.

Click pic below for more info on not just product but other healthy stuff they recommend......

....Also, here's their recipe for Fettuccine Hungry Chick-fredo

Bon Appetit!

OK
I have not been good.
My kids have been especially frustrating since school has been out & things are even more stressful at work ...

How's that for excuses?

I have not been eating well ... Too many snacks & junk & sandwiches ... Oh God, how I love the carbs.

So, I'm thinking if I make a public statement & everyone knows where I am .... & I post fairly regulary about my progress (or lack of) ... Then MAYBE I will do better.

OK

Today I weigh ...

139lbs.

And I know this isn't really way too much but it IS for me ....I feel better when I weigh under 130.

So there it is.
Black & white.
Public.

And starting right NOW ... (Because I already filled up on way too many Chips Ahoy cookies & milk) ... Starting right now I will eat healthier & exercise more.

And you all are witnesses.

Just be careful everyone.
Losing important vitamins (hate to say this-but) especially when you're older is hard on your body. I believe, especially for women.

Hey, this full moon has been playing hell on my diet. Seems everytime I ate really good food I would start to graze. Grrrrr. Like an obsession. I wish I had people I could call up to talk me thru it. I did go exercise. Thanks to Mo and Tommy who have both said they sometimes eat bad but then exercise the hell out of themselves to make up for it. I have to admit, I have no noticeable pian right now and did before the exercise session. I will do some more later.
Right now, I am making myself a promise to spend at least 15-45 minutes a day doing some kind of exercise. I am going to buy that machine and see if it helps. I know it has a money back guarantee so if it does not work, I at least can get all but the shipping back.
Btw, it IS a full moon and people tend to get out of balance easier at those times.

Jen, you know we're all here to give support, you Sexy thang, you.

Lori's absolutely correct about the vitamins. That's why I always take my daily supplement (although I notice I'm getting closer to those "Silver" vitamins I see on the grocery shelf....uuuuggghhhh!!!...lol).

So, you're going to get that computer bike, Spirit? You'll have to tell us if it's any good.

I must say, all you three ladies look fantastic (just going by your pics). I know women obsess over their weight much more than men, but you all look in very good shape weight-wise (at least to me).

Mo, reading about your 'binges' makes me feel like a cow...LOL.

Stepped on a scale today and it seems that walking all over San Fran yesterday was good for me. I was back down to 151 this morning I really want to start walking more...I live on a bike trail along some beautiful wetlands...maybe I'll start taking an evening walk

The weight number can be very deceivng. I usually go by clothes size. I f you are fit you have more muscle mass and that can translate into pounds. I know fit girls at work who wear size 10-12 and weigh in at 140-150 lbs.

This is true, Katy. At 139 I wear a 6 or 8...
But the 6's are too tight.
And muscle is harder to lose than fat.

Mo, darlin'. Thank you for the support & leads to sites & ...

OMG. Gotta get to work!

San Francisco?....bike trail along wetlands?....sheesh, EF, I wish I had as gorgeous a view when I walked/biked?...lol. The walking I do here at work is down in the basement parking lot, and the only vista I see when I bike at home is my TV screen and four walls? Keep up the good work, gorgeous.

I'll defer women's clothes sizes to Katy.

to you, Jen.

Well, I burned 410 calories on the bike and lifted weights for 20 minutes yesterday. Not sure how many calories the weights translate into but increased muscle activity is always good.

This morning: whole wheat cereal with pecans, non-fat milk. Lunch will be a Lean Cuisine or Smart One. Not sure about dinner yet. Dessert: fat-free brownies made with pumpkin or a handful of choco peanut M&M's.

Keep the Faith Mo

Spirit and Mo....thank you so much for the websites and the information. I'll have to try this when I get home. So I can eat oatmeal, Spirit? Like the two cookies I had last night with raisins? LOL But hey...we walked to and from the fireworks so maybe I took SOME of those calories away.

Well, I broke down and bought a scale this weekend and discovered I actually am about 12-15 pounds less than I thought. Starting South Beach today, stocked the fridge at work with lots of healthy goodies, celery, hummus, turkey, ceasar salad. I'm so glad SB allows hummus, I just love it. I am going to miss my Life Water for a while.

Will be starting a walking regeme after work today. My roommate has a basset hound that will be my walking partner so I have some extra motivation. I also have a yoga/pilates video that I need to unpack and will start that in the A.M. before work. Kayaking and hiking on the weekends now that fireworks season is almost at a close and I can have my weekends back.

Tahoma-
I got a taebo video, and not only did it firm, it made me feel better. I got one of those pilates balls, but my balance is horrible. I'll get there, or through my tv glass first!

How can you be a size 10-12 at 150 lbs? Well, I guess it would depend on height. I'm 5'8. My jeans are all sizes 5 and 6. My capri pants are sizes 4 and 6. All of them fit me. I really wish women's clothing manufactures would sync their sizing Am I a 4, 5, or 6? I don't even know...
