Conserve as much as you can and rethink your usage habits. The price will be what it will be and you simply need to make adjustments. For the past 2 years I have driven the least amount possible and plan a bit better to maximize my road trips.

I pay what I have to pay.. I keep my driving to a minimum.. some weeks I don't even leave the house except to hit the grocery store down the road. Thank God I have such a small car that gets wonderful gas milage. I don't care if folks do laugh when they find out what I drive.. I laugh when I pull out of the gas station after filling up on 25 bucks...

I laugh when I pull out of the gas station after filling up on 25 bucks... Daisy, that's amazing! Though, I did make it over a 6 1/2 hour drive on 3/4 of a tank recently. In my last car, I couldn't have made the entire trip, (some 350+ miles) without refueling.

$3.35 last Friday, $3.24 today.
The hard part is trying to add in the cost of fuel when we bill a job... This is such a slow time of the year, I walk a tight rope of being low enough to get the job, and still charge enough to cover expenses and make a decent buck....
We tell people we give free estimates, but in the end it costs us money just trying to get work. A simple trip to the lumber yard to get a few items is the cost of the gas and the loss of time.... we try to add it in the bill, but most folks just don't get it.
And you can't strap a 24 ft ladder or carry the tools/materials necessary for the job in any economical vehicle.
As long as I'm busy and making good money I just fill up as needed, but when things get real tight, trying to justify another $60 hoping to earn a dollar or two gets real hard.
At least I have a few months before I have to even think about putting gas in the boat as well.... I may have to install a tip/donation jar on the boat, Is that subtle enough?

they said on the news that Gas is 69 cents more per gallon than last year at this time... and National average price per gallon is half a cent a gallon less than the peak price last year...
how does that work? Oil is 40 dollars a barrel more than last year....

The conditioning process has hit a new bench mark. $3.50 9/10 in the MSP area. I see $4 gasoline by the 4th of July Holiday. $4.75 by Labor Day. $5 gas, just in time for Christmas. We all can get 2nd (or 3rd) jobs to cover the increases. It's good for the economy, really.

well if we define the economy as the oil industry you are probably right Brass, seems like they are the only ones reporting huge profits.

Maybe america will think twice about putting two oil men in the white house. Real republicans arent complaining about the price of gas.
Just saying.
