I think that anyone, male or female, that is hesitates to say "I Love You" does so because they are afraid of the commitment those three words have attached to them!

Personally, I would rather they not say them unless they are ready to do all that goes with those words. Also, I have been in a relationship before where a man would say he loved me just to keep the relationship going.

I would much rather a man wait to tell me I Love You when he honestly feels them to have him tell me what he thinks I want to hear just to please or keep me

I agree with Snappy.
some of it is in the raising.
I tell my kids I love them every day, and my young men don't have a problem saying it.

I'm in love with you, Because you understand my ways.
I'm in love with you, Because you mean so much to me.
When I'm in your arms, the joy that love creates is new and special love.
I'm in love with you. Say I want your body now and forever.
I'm in love with you. Sharing that special love together.

I also have to agree with Snappy. I have no trouble saying I love you to my son, his girlfriend and a few friends. There has only been one man in my life that I have been able to exchange those words with. Still hoping,,,but with me actions speak louder than words.

Unless I see actions behind the words, I simply don't buy into them. Words are just that. Show me.

I tend to run like hell when someone says "I love you." That usually means they expect something from me either domestically or financially. I don't do either.

Ok all jokin aside.

I dont think it is any harder for a man to say I love you than it is for women. I do believe that people tend to stay away from the phrase because it's felt to carry a responsibility that he/she is not wanting to bear. I also know that because of a few bad experiences some are afraid, because those words sometime carry consequences. Not good ones either.

Ex: Because I told you how I felt about you doesnt mean

1) That you turn into a stalker
2) That I have to be with you or talk to you every single min of the day
3) That you own me
4) That everyone of the opposite sex is either after me or me after them
5) That we must dress alike when we are together
6) That my life is available for you to turn upside down
7) That you have the right to spy on me because of your insecurities.

and the list just goes on and on...........

Now me!

I have never had a problem with expressing my feeling appropriately for any occassion. If I tell you (I LOVE YOU) , We are more than likely already friends. Let me try that again. We are probably already friends. I will probably know you well enough to know whether or not you will bug out on me if I say (I LOVE YOU).

Just a thought!

Many people look for another to offer him or herself to being in love. Just because you may feel this way doesnt neccessarily mean the opposing party feels the same. Thats why communication is key. These are issues I hope all of us will cover before offering these words. We have to talk about these things. Actually we need to talk about if and anything. I would like to know that we would get along great. I would like to know that even though our opinions will vary it will not constitute rivalry but stimulate a conversation, thought, and a eventually a mutual agreement. ( I LOVE YOU ) Doesnt mean I want to marry you. It means I love you. I adore you means, I adore you. Your feet stink means, your feet stink. All of these things are things that should be bought up in conversation before things get to that point.

I truly believe Md is probably one of the best vehicles for this. But in my opinion (That doesnt hold much standing with you guys ) MD is misused as far as dating is concerned. Not talking about get together with friends but as far as dating is concerned. Before I say ( I LOVE YOU ) I will know how you feel about what interest me and my lifestype. ( My horses, bikes, cars, traveling, commitment to my Co., Relationship I have with my friends family, my twice a week visits with the hookers, all the way down to my wardrobe. I will know these things. I will know because we will have talked about everything under the sun before I have said

I LOVE YOU !

I love everyone. Even people that I do not like, I still love them,. At least when they are not actively pissing me off.
I love easily. I will still love after the person is gone. Just maybe not want to be with them. I tell some people that I love them, but do not take it wrong. Then they know I am not trying to put any ties, or responsibilities on them. So maybe if you state to them in that way, they will not take it wrong and may actually feel more likely to reciprocate.

we could get into a technical discussion, the different definitions of love, Agape', eros, fillia, etc....

but the point is, I love my family and friends, but I find that romantic love isn't in my life.... and may never be.... but it doesn't mean my life isn't filled with love.....

I grew up with parents that weren't verbally demostrative. I can't recall them ever saying "I love you" to any of us children, or to each other. Yet their actions showed love, caring, value and respect, which are how I measure love now. I've heard "I love you" from mouths I wouldn't by a car from. As nice as the words are, I've found what people do far outstrips what they say.

Saying "I love you" means what? That now they are bound to you, or you to them? Anyone can promise to be faithful until death do us part, yet infidelity, cheating both physically as well as emotionally, obviously happens. Fidelity and love is shown more through being where you say you will be, when you say you'll be there. Love is picking up the kids on time so the other parent doesn't worry if you'll show up. Love is never calling the other names, or disrespect even when you're angy. Love means when I'm angry or frustrated you let me vent without questioning me about why, or judging me for feeling that way. Love is learning to play darts or go to your partner's softball games, getting to know their friends, even though you don't like team-type sports. Love is knowing that when she writes a check for groceries, there is still money in the account, and not a new boat in the driveway.

Love is more action, less talk.

By the way, I finally learned how to say I love you to my parents and siblings. It wasn't easy. I guess that for some reason I thought that I might be rejected or ridiculed for saying it. Saying "I love you" felt like I was very vulnerable and I was uncomfortable. I think my parents, oddly enough, may have felt the same way. Amazingly, neither one bit me when I said it, and gave me a "Ditto" like response in return.

I've learned how to say it to my friends and those I care about, for my need to let them know how important they are to me, not because I need the reassurance of how they feel about me.

I LOVE YOU is NOT hard to say.....it all depends on your upbringing, and in our house, we were taught early that this was healthy, and this was reinforced virtually daily. It was great.

So now I find myself telling everyone, "I Love You"......and if anyone says, "I Love You, Too"
......I take her home immediately!!!!!!!

I have no problem saying that to the ones I love.. and I don't expect to hear it in return either.. I love because I can, not because I want something in return for it.

I love my family, my friends, my cats but have never really loved a man (except as a friend). I've come close but it never happened. I'm still waiting for that one final love. ((sigh))
