So what do you like to cook? What are some of your favorite recipes or ethnic food?
Pizza in the Portland area has been pretty disappointing so I've been kneading some dough and making my own pies at home.
I like cooking ethinc dishes and Thai, Indian, Hungarian and Mexican are some of my favorites.

one of my favorite dishes is lumumba gombo. it has spinach, chicken, tomatoes n okra cooked in peanut oil. now i need to calm my taste buds down since it's bedtime.
i used to cook 4 my roommates n me n austin. they'd complain as they went back 4 seconds n thirds. the gombo doesn't have a lot of carbs n it. we can start posting recipes.
oops, i didnt answer question. all sorts of foods: fish, beef, chicken and rice. i truly like chicken the most. another dish i like is akuadu (ghanaian) with okra, tomatoes n corn. its naturally sweet, beautiful n flavorful (i add my own seasonings, too).

Had homemade chili for dinner, but I raised my boys right, one of them cooked it. Not bad either.
Steve - what kind of Hungarian cooking? That's one of my favorites - I make a mean goulash, but really love chicken paprikash the best, with nockerle.

altogirl, who u tellin'? i lived with my in-laws 4 a bit, n father-in-law wanted me in the kitchen all the time cos his wife couldn't cook greens n neckbones with cornbread, hog mauls n cabbage, black-eyed peas or potatoes with onions (i put garlic in mine, too). one of the neighbors threatened to slap me cos it was so good.
its fun to cook and watch ppl enjoy. btw, i like italian, mexican n chinese. i recently went 2 a chinese n japanese restaurant. the calamari was out of this world! i had the best duck i'd ever tasted, too.

I just love tamales but good ones are so hard to find. I used to live in NJ and most of the tamales were just so-so. The best tamales I ever had were made in the back of a Mexican grocery store on Bedford ave in Brooklyn. I much prefer them wrapped in corn husk vs the green thing, banana leaf is it?

Anybody know how to make home made salad dressing? I make a feta cheese dressing that you can put on sirloin strips and top them with sun dried tomatoes and make a really good sandwhich....

lecriveuse, I'll agree some of those dishes sound real tasty! I
just moved to the Portland area and I've noticed a few African restaurants I'd like to check out sometime. I've tried Ethiopian food and I've cooked a few northern African dishes from Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco but never had any dishes from centeral Africa. It sounds so good!

I like to cook anything with Rice (addicted to rice!) and Russian foods. I wish I had more time to cook though, work tends to get in the way of that!
