The dow is down 288 points, the nasdaq is down 85 points. and you're worried about how you're going to find a soul mate. try figuring out how to recover the losses in your 401k or where you're gonna be working next month.
now, doesn't this put a whole new perspective on things?

life is about happiness on several levels.
Good mates and good friends have no dollar value

Unless you plan on cashing out your 401k tomorrow, it really doesn't matter.
Thats kinda like planing your divorce because the two of you can't agree what color couch to buy. Life is full of ups and downs, I prefer to enjoy the ups enough that the downs are simply a rest.
I think appreciating the things you have is utilizing your time better than worrying about things you have no control over.

Aren't your 401K's supposed to be looked at over the long haul? In other words, they go up, they go down, all part of an investment over time?

Excuse me, but you're here too...but I can understand your frustration: you've been through a rough patch lately-these market downturns have caused you to lose your shirt!

the markets may be down today, but they are still up for the week, as well as up for the year... In 1929, the market dropped 30% in one day.... then the banks failed... Our grandparents and parents survived...
Sure we may not have the fanciest toys, if things collapse, but we're a long way from a collapse....

Our grandparents and parents survived... Not only did they survive, they seldom worried about the stock markets. They made sure they were prepared for bad times and went on with their lives.
Today far too many people think the stock market should guarantee profits all the time. I look at Wall street the same way I do Las Vegas. It's fun to play but only a select few will make their living there.

I have no stocks. I have no retirement plan. (Scary, at 51, ain't it? Looong story. Several negative comments about my ex in it. It can wait to be told.) I don't worry about mortgage rates. (No one else would live in this dump, but at least I'm not making payments. And no, I don't invite company over.) I work from home, so gas prices are not a major component of my life. I probably average 500 miles a month on my paid-for 15-year-old car. None of those things is going to have a major effect on my life. Whether or not I fall in love the next time I meet someone for coffee might!
I think I know exactly where my priorities are!

My priorities are God, my dog, my job, and the search for Mrs. Right Forever.
Finances come and go, but a dog's love is forever. And nothin' beats a great pair of legs!

Well, it's doing it again. If you're still looking for love, make sure he or she has a lot of money and that it's not tied up in the stock market.
