The new tv season is here, and with it more inane "reality" shows. Reality is in quotes because there is NOTHING real about these shows. I watched some lame ass thing called "KID NATION" last night because I've been reading about the lawsuits the show caused.

The advertising says it's a bunch of kids running a town with no adults. The REALITY is that there were an army of adults there making sure nothing went wrong, and steering the kids to do what they wanted. They had the whole tv crew of course, and also doctors, nurses, a dietician, animal wranglers, fire and safety crew, electricians, a honey wagon crew to keep the potable toilets (that they made look like outhouses) empty, etc. Completely faked show in every aspect.

Do a little online searching, and you can find out how real this "reality tv" really is.

I hate reality shows. I watched some when they first came out and didn't bother again. I like good ol' cops & robbers like the Law & Order's and CSI. I've also really gotten interested in Mystery Diagnosis on Discovery Health.

I play poker with Ken Shamrock occasionally, the Ultimate Fighting stuff isn't fake, thos guys are really fighting, but (according to Ken), most of the time they pretty much know who's going to win the fight,

I'm with you Candy, I like good dramas. Criminal Minds and Jericho are two of my favorites.

Ken Shamrock was a coach (opposite Tito Ortiz) on The Ultimate Fighter. I think he was on the Series 4.
The series gives 16 hopefuls a chance to compete and see who will get a contract to fight in the UFC. You see them train and interact amongst each other. There's a lot of bickering between the two teams. the fights are good, though.

Ken isn't associated with UFC anymore, he is a coach for a team in the IFC now, they have a show called IFC Battleground that's just pure fighting, none of the fake drama stuff. BTW, Ken doesn't have much good to say about the new owners of UFC, it's not a good subject with him. Ken's team is based in Reno, so he gets around all over town.

I was going to say something but then realized that I don't have a TV

I'm disqualified. -- and MUCH happier not having the tube to give even a moments thought to.

I had some kitchen show on as I was posting last night. Not sure of the name, but it was on Fox, and I liked it.Looks interesting. people are fricken weird, and I'm a people watcher.

But I have realized that glancing over as I post, is totally different then plopping down in front of the set for a hour.

I agree, most of the shows suck; but Beauty & the Geek is sooo entertaining. Are there really that many people in the U.S. that are so totally ignorant socially and so stupid that they don't know who wrote Beethoven's Fifth Symphony??

It's a great show for entertainment & a real ago booster for those of us who maybe don't look like models or geeks but do have brains, common sense & don't break every mirror!

I agree with the lack of common sense....... perhaps this one thing is what draws me in....... I find myself wondering, how do these people survive in the real world?

Touch, you win the prize! Biggest spender on a date on MD! Oh, I guess you might have to spend a little on the ride you are going to take our Sunny on. Prolly ride the bike though, to save on gas.
