What's the sense of cancelling your account here if you know that you're coming back in a week or two? So what if you got angry at somebody here or a few people got angry at you?
I say - if you cancel your account, then your account should be gone...along with the pics, quizzes, videos, contacts AND the name that went with it (and anything else that comes with the account). If you want to get back on the site, then start a new account!! This is MY opinion and you don't have to agree with it.

Robo- the first time I canceled, I was kind of new, and thought I'd look around elsewhere. I had too many friends here, and came back. I have canceled 3 times since then because a)got tired of junior high crap and needed a break, but b.)my mailbox gets quite full so didn't want to just ignore it for several days.
When people take personal things to personal mail, others may not cancel. Both the bs control, and the cancel/reactivation is work for the Mods

Maybe some people dont want to get any mail while there gone? Ive cancelled a few times, could have been a week or nearly a year,I think its good for people to be able to quit anytime and then come back to check out any new folks on the forums and not be on constantly...a lifer so to speak. I may stick around for the sports threads during college football and I may not. If something interesting comes up to talk about why have to do a complete profile over?

Oh, yes, Jankia, that's what I meant. I could take four or five days off without canceling, but had tons of mail when I came back. So-if you cancel-you can't get mail!

Cancel your bank account, your Visa, etc.....do you come back and say "I changed my mind"?. Nope.
Start from scratch....again, this is just my opinion.

I canceled a few days ago...to tempting to post if i'm still active on here I shouldn't have, more mature to just not post....but never claimed i was mature!! And, I missed people too much. So I felt well rested, looked at things with a new outlook....next time I cancel it will be for good!

I have been here for 4 years and even though I have considered briefly cancelling my account, I just figure everyone has their own issues and it's not worth me leaving and giving them satisfaction!! The only reason I would ever leave is if I just deemed it all not worth my time anymore. Certainly not because I disagree with someones opinions or even if they attacked me verbally. Guess I am just the kind that likes to try to work through things to make them better.
Admittedly, I do get sick of the bitchin and fighting back and forth between some, but I just try to ignore that and focus on the positive, uplifting things going on in the forums and blogs. If it ever gets to the point where I just get plain sick of the entire site.. then yes I would cancel and if I ever decided to come back.. use a different name and start fresh.
As of right now.. I enjoy reading the forums and blogs..laughing at some.. crying at some and even seeing a different point of view with some. Until I no longer get anything useful from MD, I will be sticking around

I moved a couple times, and didn't want my mailbox to fill up...cause it sure does awfully fast....and I cancelled once (I think) because I needed to take some time away to do some thinking. I knew I'd be back every time, cause this is my first experience with forums and I enjoy them. Sometimes a bit toooooooo much!!
I'm glad that I can do that, and not lose any information. Perhaps an "on hiatus" option would be a good idea?

You mean like suspend your account for limited time.....not a bad idea. Maybe a month at a time?

What does it matter if someone's profile information is kept? This is not VISA,MC etc., this is MD. I fail to see how or why this bothers you? *shrugs*
I cancel when I want to & for my reasons, and I am more than happy MD keeps my information. Just another great site feature that other sites do not offer.

I fail to see why you even said that. This is my opinion....I'm sure you noticed that I mentioned that a few times already. You can cancel whenever you want (if you want to)....I don't care. BUT, if you do, I think that you should start with a new account. If you don't agree, fine...just don't get upset about it.....it's just an opinion, not a made-up scenario like some of the other threads.

I have never cancelled my acct. I joined 4 years ago and then forgot all about it. Had NO mail in all that time! LOL So I can leave and not worry about my mailbox filling. I rarely get mail and when I do, the person immediately cancels so...

I'm with Kaos on this. Who does it hurt to leave for a bit? I'd rather see true violators really given the boot for a month. By the Mods, not self-inflicted!

i had to see this post.... the queen of ons and off. God i love ya. And shes right. whats the point? the only two downsides i can accually think of is that one, ya forget your password and ya forces to open another. happens ok.. and b, no one can follwo your threads, postings blogs what not, while youre gone. which well keeps ya up to date on gosips about ya. i cancelled cause of the insecurties of those im foolishly enough seem to be dating at the time.
