I have often been curious about the amount of folks who come here,
in MD who can recall the days of the 50's and 60's,where the ladies wore the PoodleSkirts,
and the guys wore the slicked back greasy Pompadore hair styles, blue jeans, white tee-shirts and leather jackets. Iwas born in 1951,
so i guess you could say, that came into it full blown Girls hair-do's,were the BeeHive!!!!,and bright red lipstick.
I wonder how many of us come in here and remember those crazy mixedup days? The 65 and 66 Mustangs, the Old Woodies station wagons,
and the classic 1966's Vets, those were the days!!!!! Elvis,Presley, The Ronnettes,Chubby Checkers.

Nah.

I remember the 90s, though, when all of us crazy kids thought it was cool to wear neon colours...

neon green baggy shirts with black leggings, huge socks over the leggings...neon scrunchy in the hair...

oh geez

and the oboxious hairties with the two huge balls on them...and the shiny barettes

oh god

what were we doing

yeesh...and when we were in 6th grade...and decided we were "mature enough" for makeup...oh lord, the gobs of blue eyeshadow and red lipstick....

we looked like clowns.

i remember my friend marissa used to put on her black mascara until she had spider eyelashes. they were so long and freaky. and our cheeks would be so red from all the blush we shouldn't have been wearing. there was so much glitter, too. my friend krysta gave me a bottle of glitter for your face for my birthday, and we'd put it on the corner of our eyes, on our necks..like...everywhere.

and we did this all on the bus before going to school.
ew ew ew ew

I was born in the trailing edge of the 60s.... 69, so the 60s to me is almost nothing as I was just a baby... lol.

Just think LipGloss, when you start to have kids, you can laugh about it,
and share those Hair Raising colorful days. All my kids were born in the early to mid-70's,
so they feel it,just like you.

Thats alright!!! White Thunder!!! when me and my Big sister go out nights, we wear,
Mini-skirts and sometimes Black Boots, she was born 1 year before me,1950. You are who you are,
and not what you wear. This is a fashion free world.

Hopes I was born in 51 also. I remember the poodle skirts and saddle shoes! Also dressing in mom and daughter matching outfits. I wasn't into make-up till the 60s then I went with all the Yardley stuff, the white lipstick, etc!
It's too bad kids can't grow up as easily as we did. We didn't look for the bad in everything like people do now.

I think we live in a society that runs on fear, sign. That's how politicians get elected, and that's the way the schools are run.

I grew up during the 60's-70's. But my parents had people over, we had good neighborhoods, played kick the can, hide and seek, kickball, softball, got involved in school sports (tennis, basketball and volleyball for me)
I had a 45 record player, but my parents had the ultra-impressive console stereo, with the "drop-down lp changer." We were zoomin!

Elephant pants, halters, peasant tops and earth shoes. Hot pants, long hair on everyone!
(Unfortunately my parent's choice of music was Tom jones, Don Ho, and Englebert Humperdinck!)

Lori--we lived on a dead-end street in a suburb of Mpls. In the evenings, parents and kids both would come out to play football, catch, whatever. We had pogo sticks and everyone loved to try those out. Hula hoops were still big also. My parents would have another couple or 2 over on Sat. nites and if they brought their kids, we all played board games. It really was a great time to grow up.

LGQ I agree, there is a lot of fear in people these days. I hate that so many parents won't even let their kids celebrate Halloween. We used to go out trick or treating for hours with no parents. My mom and dad did check out the candy and treats we brought home, but usually just to grab their favorites! LOL

Loreli!!!! i was born in the fifties, and my music was Elvis Presley, Connie Francis,
The 3 Tops, and Little Richard, and James Brown. But you know some thing? You are right about those times, when our neighborhoods, were safer, and people never, really had
to lock their doors as such.My children grewup, in the 70's and 80's,where kids, wore bright colored clothing, and the Goth Era came into place. I try to communicate, as much as i can
with the younger generation, cause i know what it was like having to deal with parents born,in the 30's,and 1913 era.God help me if i wore my skirts, above my knees,or wore sun-tops,Daddy was born in 1913,so he threatened
to lock me up in my room.Iwas not able to date, until i was 18 years of age.

My mother isn't letting my sister go out trick-or-treating this year because last year (it was my last year going out trick-or-treating. I'm a baby and I stopped late) my sister nearly got beaten up by these Puerto Rican kids who yelled things at us and stole our candy.

Our town has been overrun with miscreants from the inner city, and now my sister has lost out on Halloween...it's terrible. My community used to be rather safe, and now it's not....
