Singer Lesley Gore came to fame in the '60s with 'It's My Party (And I'll Cry If I Want To)' and other hits. She once told an interviewer that she didn't realize she was gay until she was in her twenties, and that she decided to come out when she toured the Midwest and saw the negativity that existed in places where "there are probably two gay people in the whole damn town." She still records and tours. (Engine Company Records)
Others who have come out of the closet include:
Lily Tomlin Suze Orman (Financial guru) Johnny Mathis George Tekei of Star Trek Steve Kmetko from Entertainment Tonight Janis Ian (Singer) Lance (N'Sync) Mary Cheney (Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter) Ellen Degeneres (Ellen show), married to Portia DeRossi.
Have you seen Portia DeRossi? OMG, she is so beautiful.

I don't think Ellen ever married Portia DeRossi... I've known Johnny Mathis was gay since my teens..

On a more realistic note, Raymond Burr was gay. Perry Mason and Ironside.....

I always wonderered about Liberace. Sure, he was flamboyant and swishy, but was he REALLY gay? or just trying to impersonate one?
I've never known a true gay person with such awful taste in attire and personal style. Kinda like a Larry-the-Cable-Guy version of what gay is.

A straight friend of mine pretended to be gay in college. He did it as a scam to get laid. Women were always trying to "convert" him and he came up with all sorts of things they could do to help him "become" straight.
I can't believe that women fell for it, but a lot of them did.
Um, as to Dumbledore, you mean he's not real? (sniff)

Yeh, it seems funny to me people coming out of the closet to announce they are gay, it's as silly as someone saying to someone, did you know I am straight? What's the deal here?
I do however like Rudy Galindo, he announced he was gay, like we didn't know lol. I think he is one of the best figure skaters around. Have you ever seen him skate, omg, he skates using hoops and skates flamboyantly, like ballet on ice.
Nah, I'm not homophobic silly lol. Just thought it was interesting, I'm interested in learning about all sorts of things, I have a curious mind lol.
I think gay people are afraid to tell people for fear of ridicule. Society basically accepts heterosexual people, but I don't think they have embraced gay people as much. I think that is sad, people are born the way God made them. Why can't people accept people for who they are? It's like the military, if a guy announces he is gay, he is not accepted into the military, or if he is in the military, they kick him out if they find out he is gay, I don't understand their thinking, he might be the best soldier there. That's just plain discrimination.
Just in case you are wondering, I am strictly hero with a very sexy bf.

Nnnnnooooooo!!!!!!!! wtf?
It seems to be a tre' chic thing.........Ya know shock value, the thing to do. Nah, it's just not unsafe to come out anymore. It has nothing to do with "tres chic". You're not in danger of being shunned by your community if you come out.
Just in case you are wondering, I am strictly hero with a very sexy bf. No offense, but why do people still have to use this as a disclaimer whenever they "stick their necks out" for gay and bi people?
