I miss the past, it was a slower pace, things were less sophisticated, material goods were not as revered, we appreciated what we had, we got by on less. I truly miss the rock bands from the past, The Searchers, The Dave Clark 5 to name a couple. OMG, those were fun times. I just bought "The Best of the Searchers" today at a church flea market, for $1.00 it was worth it, it harkens back to a simpler time, makes the heart feel good.

I miss the aspect of "courting".. Everyone is in a hurry to get to the goodies!! Why can’t dating be an art form again?
*Sigh*

I remember the neighbors would sit on the porch and play their guitars in the evening. We would all gather there to listen and visit. No one had air conditioning, so we were always outside in the evenings.
Even in the 60's, we played Waffle ball and croquet in the back yard. The neighbors would usually join in the fun. Again, we didn't have air conditioning, so why sit in the house?
I really miss those kinds of times.
I have started having a monthly "picnic", complete with homemade ice cream and everyone brings delicious home made foods. Family, friends and neighbors come over. We usually have at least 10 people and it is just great! Just like the "old" days.

It's why we were in bed at 7:30. We were freaking exhausted!!!
You know...they really should have adult sized ones. Talk about a great work out!

Yeh we had a croquet set too, I loved that game, also wiffle balls, badminton, anyone remember playing that? We used to set up the net in our backyard, those were fun times.
How about taking Sunday drives with your parents, just to see the sights. We used to do that alot, or stopping off after church at the local deli to buy ham and potato salad for lunch, now those were special times.

I raised my sons the same I was. In the country with lots of trees to climb, cricks to walk, and animals to see.
It really is up to the person on the way they want to live.
How many people have 2-4 kids that they have in all kinds of after schools activities? All different ones, on different nights?
What ever happened to sitting down at the dinner table together?
You can make everything slow down, it is your/our choice.

I couldn't agree with you more, Katt. The pace of our lives is our decision. We live in a society that places value on more...more activities and more possessions. Anyone can choose quality over quantity, it's just that most people don't.

Hang on...one of these days it will slow down again. I'm not retired but I'm not keeping anything close to the schedule I used to (but honestly, I never kept a more frenzied schedule than when I was in my teens...I'd literally forget to eat for days at a time; wish I could do that now!)
But those childhood days...pickiing berries and helping my grandma make jams, taking a book and hiding under a weeping willow where nobody could find me, walking the 'crick' as Katt said...those were great days.

My sons also want the same thing for their kids. It is all in the way you want to live I think.
I can remember saying to my Mother, " I wish this merry go round would stop".
She told me, " Don't say that, when it stops will be the day they put you in the ground.".
Ok, needless to say, I never said it again.

I miss the Good Ole Days.........I think we should all band together and make a conscious effort to bring them back. Turn off the tv vid games pc and head out doors in the nicer weather...........More family time indoors. more meditation and relaxation.
