I'm cooking dinner here at my house for the first time in years.....and we're doing our Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday instead of Thursday because my sister and brother-in-law will be in town that day and haven't spent a Thanksgiving or Christmas with the rest of the family in many years. My dad has been sick with a very serious illness and is not doing very well... so I'm really looking forward to having the whole family together!
We're having the traditional turkey with cornbread dressing and giblet gravy, sweet potato souffle, green bean or broccoli casserole, corn pudding. pecan and pumpkin pie...and the stuff that goes so well with it all...cranberry sauce, pickled peaches, etc.

For the simple reason that I cannot resist the sale prices on turkey . . .I am planning to once again astound and amaze Cave Dog . . .by demonstrating to him that food in our cave does (albeit very infrequently) come from something other than the microwave. Once the turkey prices go back up . . .the non-microwave food preparation device will once again become known as the "Electric Pot and Pan Hider" . . .

Going to my mom's house with the children. My brothers and sisters and inlaws and neices and neiphews!!! Lots of people...I was going to have it at my house, but I just found out that you can't cook the turkey in the microwave

Angel...your a nut!
At my house again this year. About 30 people. I make a turkey a day for 3 days. (only so much room in the oven you know) Then we have one fresh out of the oven on Thanksgiving. The rest are for sandwhiches. Pies are made the night before.
We eat early so that we have time to play games and let the triptophan kick in and let the kids fall asleep!
Shields....you and your dad are welcome to come. What's a couple more? But FYI....the games get cut throat...you have to be able to fight to the death!!!

I think this year, instead of having ALL MY ADOPTED KIDS, like I did last year, I'm just going to have my own kids, and son in laws and grandson. My adopted kids have all strung out so much I can't keep track of them all this past year, so I think it'll be nice, (providing my health is good) to just have my kids. I'll have turkey and pies, and watch FOOTBALL all day!!! woohoo

We're going to our friends Vern and Susie's house. Because my family is annoying and we don't like to spend holidays with them anymore.
Vern and Susie are a hell of a lot more fun, anyway.
I didn't even want to celebrate the holiday but I'm still going because I love them.

I don't actually like turkey! This year we're having a great big pot roast with potatoes, carrots and onion, steamed broccoli, rolls, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. Board games and movies thereafter.
Oh ya...and I have to write a paper for my planning class too.

Flying back to Michigan to visit all my family.
For the first time in many years, I will not be doing the dinner. My mom and I usually did it since I was very young.
Now the next generation has decided to do it and I won't have to do a thing!
Well, until someone mentions pies..

I already have my Healthy Choice Slow Roasted Turkey Breast microwave meal sitting in my freezer. I may pick up a can of jellied cranberry sauce just because I like it.
I've been invited to join my sister and brother and his wife, but they're going to Reno -- ick, too far, lol. (Besides, they'll probably want to take in a movie, and I don't "do" movies -- or "out to dinner", now that I think about it ~grin~ what an old stick-in-the mud )...
But I'll be right here the next day in case anyone wants to Air Express any leftovers

Air expressed leftovers. Sounds like a darn good idea.I dont know why but turkey and dressing taste better to me the second day. I'll be having Brenda do most all the cooking but I will make the turkey in my deep fryer, then just sittin around watching the Packers feast on Lions.
