Had a business acquaintance gentleman over for diner the other night. Because he mentioned steak- I bought a couple very nice rib eyes.We had a couple drinks and I excused myself to fire up the charcoal cooker- and I proceeded to grill the meat perfectly. He stood there absolutely amazed- said he had never seen a woman use a bbq. I guess I have lived alone so long- I never even thought about it. But now that the subject came up- did he think I was too stupid- or it requires testosterone to master a grill, or that I was some way challenging the masculinity of the opposite sex. How about it girls- do you bbq- and if not why not?

I do! During warm weather or cold, I grill out 2 - 3 times a week. I even grill my veggies because I like the flavor. I have a smoker and smoke turkeys, chickens, hams, pork roast, etc. I never thought about it being a "guy" thing.... though I did grow up with Dad then my brother being the "master chef" of the grill....and for the short time my brother lived with me, he took over the grilling.... so, maybe somewhere in my sub-concious, I DO think it a guy thing! However, I was really happy to get my grill back to "me" when he moved!

Oh gosh...just after my divorce I was at a Memorial Day cookout with 2 other divorced women. The hostess couldn't figure out how to light the charcoal, the legs on the grill ended up falling off and lunch ended up on the ground. I said we looked like a very bad joke...How many divorced women does it take to grill a burger.

I have to admit that I've gone over to the dark side...I'm using gas. It's just so much easier cleaning it...

I'm definitely a griller. I've stepped toward the light though and have just started using charcoal this summer!

I love to grill, 80%+ of my meals are grilled. Gotta love a woman who knows how she likes her meat.
I will step up and offer to cook for her, only to make her job easier and faster. But, if she wishes to cook................ lemme know when it's done......
But, as a side note, I LOVE to cook side by side with my woman, just always seems to taste better.... But, I usually always wind up tending the fire, but I'm never afraid to share my secrets......... I rarely do it the exact same way twice anyways....

Well of course women can grill. Man might have discovered fire, but women have been cooking ever since.

Huh? You mean there are women here whose husbands/guys actually do the grilling? All my adult life I thought that was just a joke or cartoon-like stereotype. Maybe in my next life I'll find a guy who will actually cook meals on the grill for ME -- and clean it afterwards

Ummmm....you don't have to clean it afterwards! Just wait until the next time and burn it all off...and use a wire brush....

^^^^^^^^ Our missing in action grillmeister!! He sure does, on the grill or in the kitchen.
p.s. I like to just turn up the gas after I finish cooking to burn everything off, then use a spray bottle and wire brush to get it good and clean...then next time I have a nice clean grill waiting for me...it only takes a couple of minutes that way...
