Mexicans love them and I don't think they are too bad either. Furthermore when you are really hungry and don't have any money what the heck does it matter what food you get as long as you get some. Doesn't sound to me as if you all have been very hungry, poor, or homeless before. I have and it sucks. And I didn't care what I got as long as I got something to eat and a place to sleep. There were far too many days when I had neither. No being picky flies away when you get really hungy otherwise you ain't very hungry at all.

I dunno....I figure the people I'm contributing to feeding are basically my guests, and I tend to feed my guests better than I usually feed myself. Food drives this year (at least here in Phoenix) are asking for cereal, so I just picked up a load of it for our local food drive...organic.

Hey, this is actually supposed to be a fun thread......Unusual ways you know it is Christmas.

I think it is ironic that people show their generosity by buying a case of Ramen Noodles. The idea as I see it is to give these people a treat during the holiday season.

And please, let's not turn this thread negative.

when I buy for food drives, I buy stuff that will make a proper holiday meal.. stuffing, cans of pumpkin, cranberry sauce, canned hams, cake mixes.. I don't go cheap when I am buying for someone else.

I happen to like Ramen Noodle soups, probably 'cause of all the salt, I've always loved anything and everything with salt.

I think it's just nice that people are buying anything at all for the soup kitchens and food pantries. I think whatever they give will be appreciated.

Hi,

I saw your comment on the above forum post and I have to say I agree with what you said. At one point in my life I was married but neither of us had a job and no one was giving us assistance, we went a week without any food, it was horrible, I felt so alone, sad and was so hungry. We didn't even have a refrigerator, I found a few coins and bought a package of bologna and stored it between the window, it was wintertime. Yes, I know what it is like to be poor. We did not even have a stove, we bought a single hot plate burner. I ended up finding a job as a Avon lady, I had no car, I walked 4 miles each way just to pay my rent and it barely did pay it. I finally moved from Maine back to CT but OMG, I know what you mean about being poor and having nothing. Some of the people on this site don't appreciate the smallest things in life. I will always appreciate any food I have to eat. Right now I am unemployed and times are really tough for me. We eat one good meal a day. I know what you went through. There is nothing wrong with Ramen noodle soup, it is food. Just the fact people are donating anything to the food pantries and soup kitchens is all that should matter, not if it's the best cut of meat, or the fanciest veggies.

Ok, I will get off my pedestal now lol.

Just had to vent a bit. Some people really get to me lol.

BTW, just curious, what nationality is your wife? My ex hubby married a Chinese woman.

Hope your evening is going well.

Valerie

Your grandfather's widow sends you each 25 dollars of your own 800,000 dollar inheritance, and all four of you wonder how much she's actually spent of it
