When I was a child being the youngest and 5 yrs old.. .. I would get ready for school......my sisters would help me get ready, it was close...like 5 houses away.....but...being so young my mom always drove me...fear I would get kidnapped or something.. ....this time....I just walked to school.......across the field and my sisters were telling me to hurry up....they started later... I went ...only to find out there was no school at all ..it was a Saturday I came home....my sisters all laughed at me. but..of course I had to tell my mom as I was crying and scarred...... they all got on restriction ...all of my years I remember so many funny stories . ....that is what we like to do... ...is play jokes on eachother all in good fun and laugh.....
My sisters and I are all very much alike we have the same kind of humor and I remember that it was Christmas........one of my sisters I am very close to ..I gave her the present and it was in a box of Q tips......she is looking at me like..... what but...was being polite ohh thank you.. ok.... hmmm..... but...I had kept the top layer looks like q tips but...there was a gold bracelet inside.. ....she was so surprised.....I will never forget that look on her face.......
I also remember rushing home for Friday night Tv.......to watch
There were alot of these around necklackes, earings and stickers on cars and vans
and many of these and my sisters had one of these of course is was that ugly pale inside of an avocado green color...that we would dance to the 45's to because everything was so hip and groovy
Does anyone have any good memories good or bad that sticks in there mind ...they care to share .......about anything.....I thought this would be interesting and fun to go back when you grew up or even up todate of fond memories..or anything that you can think of....I know we are always thinking of so many things ....sometimes you have deja vu and you go ohhh yeah.......that was hilarious.......can you believe I did that...blablablah...... .............. xoxo

Yeh, times were simpler back then. I remember my mom baking me a birthday cake and she had me stay outside in the yard 'til it was done lol.
My record player got used alot, I had albums by the Tijuana Brass, yeh, they were big in their time lol, also Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Mamas and the Papas.
In Junior High school sometimes gym class consisted of dance lessons, I am not kidding lol. We learned the cha cha as one of the dances and had to dance with boys, omg, I could have fainted having to dance with a boy lol. I mean, who dances the cha cha these days? lol
Then in Junior High the style was Jesus sandals, they were totally flat with just laces from the feet all the way up the leg. I wasn't allowed to have them, but one girl in school did, I always loved them, they were the coolest.
Hot pants were also the rage and yes I had a few pairs.
When I was much younger, we had milk men come to our house and deliver the milk, it had a kind of cream on the top when you opened it. My neighbor next door used to get ice delivery, big chunks of it.
There were no computers in those days so kids played outside with other kids. I had a pogo stick, boy was I an expert on that lol. I could go for over 100 jumps at a time, was pretty proud of myself hee hee. I also had a skateboard, they were not as high tech either like todays varieties, mine was a smaller wooden one and it had real metal wheels, loved that darn thing.
The first time hula hoops came out my mom bought me a yellow one, my sister a red one, talk about being in the in crowd lol. I had so much fun with that.
I will think of more things later to write I am sure. Would love to hear about your childhood memories.

I remember the milk men ... .......we didn't have one but...I remember the truck......and everything was very colorful and there were the bottled coke
I remember when my mom had the Mary Tyler Moore Flip hair do and those one piece bathing suits............ with the hair caps ........and of course this was the look ......... but......that is the hip look for today anyway......the styles always come back.............
I remember playing with all the simple toys.........they are nothing like todays toys........we got ripped off............but........I loved the simple things we had.....they were more durable .......and just made it more interesting to play with our little easy bake oven to cook the cake with a lightbulb .........I wouldn't change it for anything.......
Thank you It is good to come back down memory lane...........

I remember spending hours making paper dolls and doll houses from catalogs. You cut out the people from the models. You use boxes and lids for the house, then cut out the furnishings you want! We had more fun with that. At Christmas we would wrap "presents" cut out from the catalog in bits of paper and put them under the catalog Christmas tree! Simple joys, indeed. Lune-we also had pogo sticks. Boy could we go up and down the block on those things. Later it was bikes, and the bikes were horses. We learned to ride with no hands and had a rope tied to the handle bars for the reins! We seldom spent much time indoors. Sunday nights were tv nights--Walt Disney World! And we got to eat in the living room on tv trays that night only.

Many of my favorite memories as a child are when we visited my granny in Kentucky. It took forever to get there because it was in the mountains and there were no interstates to get there. Her house sat on stilts because there was a river in front of the house and a mountain behind. We had to leave our car off the road, walk down a long path, and then across a very long swinging bridge. I was always scared the first time I walked across the bridge, but once I had gotten used to it again, it was always one of my favorite places to play. Granny would give me money and have my older cousins who lived down the path from her house, walk me to the post office/general store and I would buy Kits (remember that candy? they came in vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, banana, and peanut butter) and then when we got back, I would sit on the swinging bridge and pollute the water by unwrapping my Kits as I ate them and throw the little wrappers into the river to watch them float away. My favorite part of the trip was always the first hug I got from Granny when we got there. She was so soft and she always smelled so good. As soon as I would get to the door, she would grab me and hug me as hard as she could and it felt like being pulled into a nice cozy soft, scented pillow. Granny and me

I remember standing in the kitchen watching my mother bake. I couldn't wait till she would let me do that too! I was so happy when I got my Easy Bake oven!
Sunday evening was popcorn night with Wild Kingdom and Walt Disney.
I loved to sit on the front steps in the summer making my wonderful, tasty mud pies too. I would take days looking for pretty colorful pebbles to use in them. I would then leave them on the cement steps to cook.
Jumping rope, playing Jacks, climbing trees,,on and on.

That record player looks like mine, myst! Except it had a very colorful red white and blue top!My first record was the Archies, sugar
We watched Hawaii 5-0, Big Valley, Partridge Family, Brady Bunch. My Mom would pop popcorn on Friday nights and make us orange juice with 7-up (my Dad didn't like us having pop, but once in awhile he would take all 4 of us kids with him to the store, and let us get whatever candy we wanted. We knew not to tell my Mom!) When my Dad would go out of town for work, we got to have McDonald's or tacos or pizza. We would start food fights and my Mom would try to stop us, but she was trying to cover a laugh. I remember when they first started giving immunizations at school. We would all line up, and walk past the nurse, who would "shoot" our arm-it hurt! We had fun after school sports-FREE! Kickball, softball, rope climbing, basketball. Wow, I remember SO much! I could go on. And, i DO remember the milkman!

Loreli, we never had food fights....... that was no way going to happen in my household............. no way............ we ate alot of fruits no candy or pop.........so that is why I am a fruit lover but.....because of my stomach issues I can't really eat it anyway........... I sneak some in sometimes I remember watching the Parent's Trap and all of the old shows......... JP Patches was big in Seattle and his kids went to our school ........and I loved of course......non other than the Queen of comedy
I am sure if all of us girls were to sit and compare notes that if we could take time back..........how fun would we have together today..........but just around the world.............I can bet on it we would be going back memory lane and be little girls again
Precious moments you can't get back but definitely hold memories xoxo

I remember playing outside until well after dark in the summer...catching lightening bugs and using the light part for rings
Walking to the library for an armload of books that would be read within the week......we did a LOT of reading as kids....something I managed to instill in 3 of my 4 kids
Winter days building snow forts and snowmen...drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows...eating steaming bowls of chili...going back out to play more. No matter what...school was in session...I cant recall hardly any "snow" days...and yes.. I did walk to school in the snow..over a mile, cause if u didnt live at least 1.5 miles from school you couldnt ride the bus And we didn't have snow boots..with 8 kids, times were tough...you did with what you had to do with and didn't complain
We had an old piano and all 8 of us kids would gather around it while my sister chorded and sang to the top of our lungs(of course our parents were gone) Watching Tarzan and old westerns were rare treats...I was in western heaven
Hopscotch, jump rope, bike riding, long hikes with picinics.....those were such good times!!
My kids used to think I was the meanest mom in the world because I made them have outdoor time. Their time on tv and video games was very limited... I told them physical playtime was much more important.
Thanks for starting this thread mystery
All of these memories have been so much fun reliving... laughing over...and even some happy tears for the sweetness of the memories

I just had a flashback of when I was younger and my family all went to Japan and Hawaii and California........I was about 16......everything was left for me and all the legal work ......in case something happened......I was waiting as everyone was packing as I had planned a big party .......... trying to be so innocent and get prepared for the kegger..... and everyone to come and to serve appetizers and get all the ice and chips and dip and the whole spread out......as my mom looked at me and said...... what is wrong.......well everyone was showing up at 7 pm over 100 people...... they were dragging there legs and stuff.....everything was hidden and I am like hurry up I have to get the house ready...........my sisters looked at me......they were going thru all the details for emergency and all I could think omg pls don't have the keg show up as they are leaving.......... I looked at my gf staying with me and trying to stay calm.....we are all pushing and helping them and my sisters knew..exactly what was going on...as I blushed ......nooo we are just going to hang out as I always did.......... sure enough they finally left......just in time to get all ready and everything was set..........they were gone for a month....... I had a good time.........I have all the pictures and the memories....of that.........those were the good times.... being sneaky abit..... of course it was a mellow party

oh, Snappy...I agree on the snow and school thing! And the outdoors thing..we loved being outside. Kickball, tether ball, hide and seek, tag, volleyball, wiffle ball. We each HAD to practice piano an hour a day, so took turns. My brother was AWESOME, but it wasn't cool for a big, tough football player to play, so he quit.
We use to be able to ride our bikes quite a long distance to the A and W for Tacos on Mondays. (They were good back then) I would never let my kids do that at a real young age-too many weirdos.
We would take turns staying with a select friend at my Grandma's for 2 weeks in the summer. She had SO much energy, and took us places all day long. Never a chance to get bored.

I remember the milk man, the clink of the glass bottles, the tin foil cap on top... I remember walking to school, walking home for lunch, no cafeteria at that grammar school... we didn't have car seats for kids, some of the cars my parents owned didn't have seat belts... I owned a chrysler with a push button transmission, no gear shift lever....
my maternal grandmother never owned a color television, I remember the the big black and white console tv she had in her living room... she ran a boarding house, took in laundry, and cleaned houses for people... her husband died when my mother was 12, and she just worked... I remember her hanging laundry through out the house, ironing, and folding shirts, wrapping them in tissue paper... her mother, (my great grandmother) sat in her chair, darning socks, mending shirts, or pants...
yet my siblings and I were there every day after school, until my parents finished work... it was a simpler time.....
