What do you call her?

When I was married... and sometimes....

Or "Your mother" (under my breathe....)

My husband died 8 years ago and I have become his mother's caregiver support because there is no one else. Now it is......

I got to know her:

Sharp as a tack. Don't mess with her. And boy can she curse like a drunken sailor, even at age 86.

I have no mother or mother-in-law...would be nice if I did. One of my ex b/f's mother really likes me though. We only met once but she writes to me all the time. She does not like the gal her son finally married!

Thanks Katy. What would you do? He was the only child. My daughter was the only grandchild. I felt I had to watch out for her, if nothing else, it was to teach the kid something about family.

I'd call you mother-in-law "blessed", Kupuna. Wasn't it just a few months back that she was drawing her last breaths? ~grin~ She mustn't have been ready to give up her new best 'kid'...and yeh, she IS "Gramma", someone precious to your own kidlet, even if it's mainly for the good memories.

"you dont REALLY believe D*** got cancer do you?" (this in the sis in law that lives with me that has breast cancer ) I cussed her out a blue streak names I would never use any other time because I HATE them flew outta my mouth how could a woman be so cold to her own daughter ??? so now I just dont call her anything ..

I like some of the American Indians culture beleaf when it comes to this family relationship. They just dont speak to one another. Its a sign of ultimate respect for that one single job they did. Create your wife. Your heart string.

Well, my mother-in-law died before my ex and I were married, but she did try to talk me out of marrying him...we were actually good friends and she certainly warned me. She was a good woman who had a tough life and always did the best she could to do right by people...I only wish she'd lived to see her grandies.

I called mine by her first name, and still do when I see her.
What HAVE you been calling her so far?

And, what a nice person you are.
