...and we have clear skies!!!

It's starting now. My 15 year old twins get extra credit for science class if they call the teacher to say they are watching it.

Geeeez.

Extra credit.

I am so disappointed.
Less than 2 hours ago, we had clear skies & the moon was like a giant white bowling ball in the sky.
I just went outside & it is so cloudy, I couldn't even find the moon!

About 6:15, the full moon rose just off the southern end of an island in the Gulf of California. At around 6:45, the eclipse started as the moon entered the earth's penumbra. It's about halfway eclipsed presently.

It is so beautiful and it's warm outside!

I apologize. I only mentioned it because it's easy to sit outside and sip a glass of wine while watching the beautiful phenomenon. The moonlight reflecting off of the calm waters is equally impressive.

Okay: I'm freezin' my tush off!!! Better?

I can see it really well from my front porch! Looks like it's about 2/3 gone. Too bad it's only 8 degrees out!

Yes, missliss, it goes through color changes. At the moment, it's kind of a bluish tinge caused by the sun's light being bent by the outer ozone layer of the Earth. Later, that will become a reddish hue as the light passes through the Earth's lower atmospheric levels.

From 8:01 until 8:52 MST it will be in total eclipse, Cathy. I should also add that those times are for my longitude, but it shouldn't vary too much for you.
