Ok......earlier this week some young kids went through the neighborhood where the church I attend is. They spray painted black paint on one of the doors.."666" and on the lighted church sign they proudly displayed their artwork of words like "satan" and "F-----k". They got a few of the neighbors cars and house windows as well. This has cost innocent people lots of money! Some of their classmates have now "ratted" on them.
Although what they did was of a serious matter.......I'd like to know what YOU think their punishment should be???
Should they be made to wear WWJD T-shirts to school the rest of the year? Or maybe have little fishes tatooed to their forehead!!
What do YOU say...... ????

500 hours of Community service...minumum....each.
Parents each should be forced to pay for all damages.

1stsign...when my stepdad died, some kids had spray painted the outside of the church with the sign of the devil, and the words, "and this is what the devil does." Sad, that 9 years later, I remember that...they don't know what they're doing. They should be made to clean it...and not with chemical remover. The hard way. And then, they should be forced to sit with family members, who can tell them what kind of pain they caused.

There does need to be some kind of serious punishment. I think the kids should have to pay by working for the church until the debt is paid off. It shouldn't be up to their parents to pay for damage. If the kids aren't punished, this is just a preview of worse to come.

Since theyre young kids, give there parents the option of either paying for all the cleanup or supervising there kids community service of cleaning up litter from every street or road in the township. Plus dont permit them to obtain a drivers license until there 18.

I know this is off-topic but I have to say it here....
Parents paying their kids ways out of things is part of the problem with kids today!
Those kids need to "pay the price" for what they did with some sort of community service work that will make good examples of them. JMO

I agree, missliss. It might be wise to have the parents pay to have the vandalism cleaned up by professionals, but the kids involved should also have to work for the equivalent amount by doing something for the community. Or even for the church, such as cutting the grass each week for two months, or some such.

Cleaning it up first. Then they have to work to pay back the damages.
Then they need to be pulling at least a c average in their classes too. Probation, having a curfew and not missing school.
I am sure I will think of more soon.
Oh I am not saying this just because it is a church. If it was Walmart I would say the same!

I think they need to be whipped. I mean with a whip. I'm not really into the sensitive stuff. And just for starters.

Parents are responsible for there children,if they arent then they pay. If these kids came from good homes the parents should have enough sense to get right with whoever there children committed a crime against and then make that child pay them back as punishment. If these kids came from bad homes, its almost certain the parents are to blame so make them pay and take the one thing most every kid doesnt want to loose away from them.Driving privileges until they arent kids anymore.

Fine, restitution and community service. In fact, I would make part of the community service requiring those kids to cut the grass at the churches in town for the entire summer.

I believe in most states taking the driving privileges away is a given. I know it is in Michigan.
Yes the parents are responsible, but what better way to make someone learn than to make them pay it. ( the kids)

Kids know they wont have to pay and most sure dont care that their parents will have to foot the bill. If we dont start teaching kids that we are all responsible for our actions when theyre young it will only get worse. I also dont know what exactly you mean by a bad home, but I think it is unfair to say that it is the parents that are to blame for their kids actions. Kids have enough social interaction that they should know better, regardless of what their home life is like.

Old enough to know better and out way past curfew when they did it If that is the case then I think that the parents should be punished as well as their children. It is possible that these kids got past the adults but more than likely these children are a reflection of the parents and what they learned at home. If both are punished then I would be willing to bet that the parents would be a much better monitor of their children than they currently are. JMHO
